iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Graphics Problems
My iPC OSX 10.5.6 installation with patched iso to PPF2 worked fine. My
system is: ASUS M2N32SLI-DELUXE -nForce 590i MCP55 Chipset AMD Athlon X2 4800+ 2GB RAM XFX nVidia 6800GT 256MB Realtek 8187 USB mouse and keyboard. My issue: I install OSX without the graphics card using Voodoo 9.5.0, Seatbelt.kext 10.5.5, Patched USB Driver, NFOrceATA Test driver for the chipset. I get no problems with my setup other than the fact that I do not have a graphics driver installed so no graphic acceleration. I then try to install a graphic driver. I have tried many different methods: First I used OSx86Tools to download and install a driver for my card. Upon installation and reboot, I am left with a very very slow mouse. If I move my mouse, the cursor takes about 3 seconds to respond on screen - it is basically unusuable. I then read somewhere that the NVdarwin 256mb driver might work with my card. I did a whole reinstallation of the system with this selected. Again, once I had booted into OSX, I got the slow mouse issue - this basically is making the OS unusable from a practical point of view. I then read on nvinstaller.com that injectors did not work with 10.5.5 drivers which I assume also applies to 10.5.6. They suggested that I installed the 9f23installer.pfg package drivers and to then use EFI Studio to add my device and then write the hex code to com.apple.Boot.plist. This did not however work and I was left with a system where the mouse wasn't working again. This issue does not affect the USB keyboard. I would like to try a PS/2 mouse on my system but I have not had any luck getting one be recognised, even though I have installed the PS/2 drivers in the OSX installation. Any pointers or help regarding this issue would be very grateful. Keep up the excellent work, it is well appreciated! Tom |
