Just An AMD software update question

Hi, I've been looking to update to at least 10.5.5 so i can run apps such as the iPhone SDK, after days of tireless research, the only way that seems to work best is to use Zephyroth's Update Utility, and then just install the voodoo kernel. So this sounded great, and I rushed to grabbed a copy of the ASU and voodoo. But. 10.5.6 is out now, I gave it a go anyway and I lost use of ps2 inputs as well as randomly giving up on usb and kernel panics. Complete fail then, but, i know 10.5.5 works fine.
I've grabbed a copy of 10.5.5 combo from the apple site

The question I'm actually asking is how can i point the AMD Update Utility 0.5 to patch my downloaded copy of 10.5.5 rather than the 10.5.6 it's telling me is the latest version to install?

Thanks a million !

try to use the single update not the combo update...

if you are on 10.5.2 update to 10.5.3 ect until you reach 10.5.5

open the update and drag the pkg package into the downloads folder the run the amd software update download only airport update or something similar and check the modify only box...

when the airport update is downloaded it will rebuild it along with the 10.5.? pkg update you put in the download folder (or what ever else is in that folder) when its finished open the downloads folder and you will see a newly created modified folder with the 10.5.? update in it ... which is now ready to run.....don't run the airport update (delete it ) for when you want to modify the next apple 10.5.? update...

http://www.apple.com/downloads/macos...acosx_updates/

there are kext issues that need taken care of whilst updateing but i havent got much info on that...

hope thais helps ...if not i tried....

Oh dear.

Bum, my once flawless hackintosh is dead. I ran the modified 10.5.5 installer, yes i agree, i should have updated in steps,( i tried searching for 10.5.3 amd update but dispite saying the update works for AMD and Intel, the description tells it is only for Intel. Hmm. I'll get there in the end). after installing, the kernel panicked - this may have even occurred during the installation, i never saw it finish. This was the first time that kernel had had problems so it must have been something the installer was doing. Rebooted and it freezes during boot.
At least I've learned that in my next installation of leo i'll create a test partition. Thanks anyway

Right, posting this message from my hackintosh. Just reinstalled 10.5.2, i'll follow what you said but instead for the 10.5.3 pkg and .4 and then .5. I'll post my results here; it might help some one one day

Sorry to keep this running but...

Hit a new problem, so i've installed 10.5.2 on my test partition, downloaded the ASU 0.5, and the 10.5.3update dmg. moved the 10.5.3 pkg into the downloads folder like you said, used ASU to download and modify the airport utility update. It creates a new folder, checks, then patches the Airport utility fine, then the 10.5.3 but it returns "No cpuids found !" and "No need to rebuild !". It then puts both packages into the new folder and finishes. Unfortunately i didn't notice that it didn't actually rebuild the os x update the first time - installing killed my system completely. So essentially it's just moving the file .

Heres my log
