All the information is somewhere

Well about the kernels, i think you know what`s the function of it. Call it the "core" of operating system. The difference between Vanilla one and Voodoo one is that Vanilla kernels are staight from Apple, with no modifications at all. This is possible thanks to EFI. Voodoo kernel is modified, has several functions added like for example real-time cpu id patching, thanks to what you can run it on AMD systems.

Chameleon is just a bootloader with many features - just take a look at bootloaders.

Heres a definition for you about SMBIOS :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMBIOS

And here goes the DSDT :

you`ll find info about DSDT a little down the page.

Hope it`ll make it more clear for you

thank you for sharing the knowledge
most users of other forums wouldn't even bother answering :>

i thought kernel was somewhat a base of the system, but different kinds of kernels on osx86 installation distros made me confused...

i was looking at iPC 10.5.6 kernels, and there's no vanilla 9.6.0 kernel.. just 9.5.0 Voodoo kernel.. so i figure i should choose this voodoo one..

about the chameleon, i know it's a bootloader, but, do i need to install it like an app? does it work like easyBCD?

just one more tiny question, and i wont bug anyone anymore :>

i have 2 HDs, so i figure dual booting,
and since OSx86 won't read NTFS partitions, and windows won't read HFS+ partitions,
i know there are programs that help me read these partitions on different OS
but, what i dont understand is :
can i save documents directly from a program (photoshop) to a NTFS partition, or do i need to save it to HFS+ partitions, and then copy it to NTFS using a program?
I realy wouldn't want to have same music files on each HD.. just on one partition

again, thank you for your patientce

If you`re on AMD, Voodoo is definitely for you
Well about Chameleon, it installs along with most of newer distros so you dont have to bother. You can of course install it manually aswell with this installer :

http://chameleon.osx86.hu/static/som...-installer.zip

Ok, and about partitions. You can install MacFuse and for example NTFS-3G on Mac, and MacDrive or HFSExplorer on Windows and you can work with them.

On Mac OS you can save everything to the NTFS partition, even within programs like Photoshop, it`s like native support. Not sure about Windows one, but i think it`d be the same. If youre using 2 systems, it`s always better to store your media on Fat32 drive, or NTFS one but those custom drivers can sometimes mess something up ( never did to me though ). But when you`ll complete your OS X build i don`t think you`d want to use windows anymore

I'm on intel core2duo gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R

the only thing i am going to do on windows is play games :>

the windows HD is 500 gb and the other one is 250, and using vista, it seems I can't make a FAT32 partition... so i guess i'll be using NTFS for storing music, and downloads :>

thnx again !
