Hi all. I've read all the other SATA threads for 10.5.2 here and on insanelymac and haven't been able to see if the problem has been solved yet. Just an FYI i've had completely working installations of tiger 10.4.8 and zeph's 10.5.1 release on the same hardware/HD. the DVD starts and installs fine. i installed to a Hitachi Deskstar 160 Gb SATA drive. i customized the install with NVInject 320 MB, and ToH 9.2.0 kernel, and EFI v8 MBR. install went fine. my primary OS is ubuntu so i added an entry to my grub bootlist by adding boot_v8 to /boot in linux. that's all fine, once selected from the grub list i pick the right HD and leopard starts the boot process until "still waiting for root device" begins, no panics before that (or else i imagine the boot wouldn't get that far anyways). anyways, i'm just wondering what the difference may be since 10.5.1 worked OTB (with the exception of geforce panics) and why 10.5.2 won't.

AMD Athlon64 X2 4200+
MSI Neo-4F (nForce4 chipset/lan)
2 GB corsair ram
1x WD 160 GB IDE HD (Vista)
2x Hitachi 160 GB SATA HD (Ubuntu on one, OSX on the other)
1x WD 500GB USB HD
evga geforce 8800 gts 320MB
1xLG (something) 16x dvd-r/rw
1x pioneer 111d 16x dvd-r/rw

think that should be all relevant specs.
oh and both the working 10.5.1 install and the 10.5.2 were done after formatting the SATA HD.

thanks for any help and thanks to zeph for all the great work!

you could try copying the Extensions.mkext to your hard drive /system/library , see if that happens to work. It will load the same drivers as the install DVD.

I know I had to install the efi bootloader manually for some reason.

i will try as much as possible, i don't know if it will help but here are some screenshot (made with my camera)
images are 700KB big, so i give only the URL
default boot : http://www.tout57.fr/leo/default.jpg

then i tried with the Extensions.mkext from CD (and removing the Extensions directory)
http://www.tout57.fr/leo/cd_ext_only.jpg => not beter

finaly i tried with the kernel from CD (because i installed the last one)
http://www.tout57.fr/leo/cd_ext_kern.jpg => kernel panic

i will try with extensions directory AND extensions.mkext and do a shot

really hope someone can help me...

edit
i try with Extension.mkext AND Extenstion directory with the installed kenerl (9.2) and here is a kernel panic too

try this guys, if your install went without any hitches, try booting from darwin with -f -x.

I also seem to have the same problem as you guys.
The install went fine but when I boot I get the still waiting for root.

I tried booting with the -f -x and it still doesn't work....

My PC:
HP Pavilion DV9000z

Turion X2 TL-56
NForce 430/410 Sata
Nvidia GeforceGo 7600 256
120 Seagate Sata HDD
IDE dvdrw drive
Broadcom 4312 Wireless.

Ive attached a pic of my -v screen with -f -x bootflags.
