To reinstall or not to, that is the question, Clean install of OS X or try to Dual bo

Hey guys. Got a few questions about my install. I originally had Windows XP and OS X installed on the same hard drive and dual booting. Made the switch to Vista, not really sure why, but lost my dual boot. I've tried to get it back but no luck. I tried the EasyBCD and that screwed my computer up worse than ever. And had to do a fresh install of Windows Vista. Now i have Windows 7, and i'm seriously losing my mind with Windows.

I have a 250gb hdd with Windows 7 on it right now, and a 1tb backup hdd I save all my stuff to. I want to just take out my old 250gb and insert a brand new 1tb hard drive in it's place and install OS X back on to it. I have the iatkos_4i.iso that I used before and had some help from a guy on irc getting everything patched and installed.

My question, if I insert the new HDD, and install OS X back onto it, is it easier to just do a clean install of it without needing to dual boot and such, and say if down the road, i need to use Windows, which I hate to say, can i just plug the old Windows hdd in and boot from it?

What version of OS X do you guys recommend for a new clean install of only OS X? Here are my specs on my computer i'm currently running. I have iAtkos v4 and I just downloaded iAtkos v7 that I downloaded last night. Which is would be an easier install on the new hdd? I checked the iAtkos website and my setup is the ideal setup. I'm just wondering about the patches I will most likely need to use as well as making sure it reads all 4 cores, because it was perfect when I had it installed before.
