Problems with Snow Leopard + Time Machine + S-ATA dvd drive

Hello community
I have a problem regarding my new Snow Leopard Installation with Time Machine and my s-ata dvd drive. Whenever Time Machine tries to make a backup, it just delays the backup without any error message.

The console says following:

The dvd drive works but sometimes it just gets lost by OS X when e.g. a cd is left in it for a longer period (half an houre). Then it doesn't even show up in the disk utility.

-the external hd for time machine is a lacie d2 quadra with firewire
-the dvd drive is a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-212
-mother board: Gigabyte EP35-DS4

Maybe i should mention that i used the tutorial on lifehacker to install snow, and so i used the EP45-UD3P patcher

I guess its some kind of a kext problem but i couldn't find anything about these symptoms.
It would be great if someone could help me with it.
