KP with HP DV7-2260ed

Hi all,
I can install OS X 10.6.2 (Hazard) on my lappy but only with the kernel flag: cpus=1.
if I don't then I get a KP at the moment of loading APIC: System State.

I can't disable/change anything in the BIOS Only date/tine & boot order
I was wondering that if I mod the smbios.plist with CPU & RAM values that are exactly the same as my physical hardware (like CPU Mhz is now set to 3000 and my CPU is a C2D 2,2 Ghz) that the KP will disapear? Or is this just a n00b idea
