Hey,
just wanted to share will you all that the Installation of Zephyroth 10.5.2 Rev.2 is a success on this AMD machine: MB: Asus K8VSE Deluxe (Chipset: VIA K8T800 [VT8383], SB: VIA VT8237, LAN: Marvell) CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3400+ (SSE2) HDD: IDE Video Card: ATI Radeon 9800 Pro All-in-Wonder Sound Card: SB Audigy 2 Memory: 2GB For the installation, I followed the basic guides with the MBR and Single Boot options (+ all packages for ATI and LAN). I didn't have to play around, the system booted 'up and running' the first try. Here are the small glitches I have so far: 1- For some reason, the installation cannot see my PATA HDD. SATA and IDE are recognized; 2- Sometimes, I see some video glitches around the mouse cursor (a little square not refreshing for example) or when I scroll up/down quiclky; 3- There seems to be no audio, but I haven't searched at all, so maybe this has already been addressed; Nothing in those problems annoys me, except for the PATA HDD. The IDE I use currently is old and only 10GB, so I need the PATA one to work. Anyone have an idea, please? Thanks. |

nice to hear.
1) what is the difference between parallel ata and ide? me thinks both are the same, just sata is different (and old scsi) 2) does your gfx card (driver) fully support ci and quartz? (see "about this mac" / info) 3) no sound support for soundblaster newer than 16bit, period! use onboard sound. Leopard 10.6.5 | Core i3 | Gigabyte H55M-USB3 | ATI 5770 | Coolermaster Cosmos |

thanks for replying.
1- I though so. When booting the installation DVD (while loading with the Apple logo, I can hear my SATA and IDE HDD stop then start. For my other HDD (PATA), I don't hear it start at all and as a result, I can't see the drive in the Disk Utility application... 2- Will check 3- No problem, I can live with it ![]() |

so, do you mean an external drive or internal drives on different controllers? Leopard 10.6.5 | Core i3 | Gigabyte H55M-USB3 | ATI 5770 | Coolermaster Cosmos |

Ok, problem solved, but I'm not sure of what was the solution. I tried :
1- Create 2 partitions (80Gb each) instead on one; 2- Added the jumper to force the HDD to Master (on the primary); And it worked. I suspect the jumper... that's weird anyway. And yes IDE is PATA, I got a little confused because one HDD had IDE written on it and the other PATA. Thanks for support. |
