10.6.7 running on AMD, slight problem

Here is a screencap of what happens after about 25-30 minutes of using Xcode.

I'm trying to teach myself objective C so please dont laugh at how simple and impractical the training prog is, lol...

http://s244.photobucket.com/albums/g...ffin%20OS%20X/

system specs are accurate in the screen cap except now I have 3gb of ram

I'm also wondering what resources actually work on 10.6.7 for this processor... it seems like everything i think i need is no longer hosted for download.

please help, i'd like to be able to code for hours without Xcode crashing and causing a panic somehow...

before i get flamed, if this thread is in the wrong section, please mods please feel free to move me, I'm relatively new to this forum and to virtualization, but i made it to working 10.6.7 and xcode without any direct instruction, so please be patient with me, all i need is a shove in the right direction

these are the steps i typed up to help my buddy with and almost identical laptop install and upgrade to 10.6.7 like i did

anything might help me at this point

but this was my install and upgrade process...

'dont forget to snapshot your VM before and after every major change once it makes it to the desktop and it's 'stable'!

STEP 1: uninstall VMware Player (if it even lets you, remnants of it are still infecting my systems registry... too lazy to manually remove them...)

STEP 2: get virtualbox 4.0, and set up your virtual machine, the boot as EFI checkbox option should be unchecked, give the VM at least 1024mb of ram, half of your processors, all of your video memory and about 15gb(25-30gb if you plan on installing Xcode after 10.6.7 update) as a fixed hard drive. If you're planning on installing Xcode later after updating to 10.6.6+ make sure you're left with about 12gb's of free space after you finish updating to 10.6.7 which consumes about 2-3gbs just for the update. I used the dynamically expanding storage and still am because it's working, but it does not dynamically expand as you may think based on the description. I almost had to do a complete reinstall because i didn't have enough room for Xcode that MUST be installed on your main system drive. My workaround was partitioning a new drive, moving the 4gb Xcode/SDK install file to it and then deleting a bunch of applications i would rather have kept.
*note-dont waste your time downloading Xcode until you update your system to 10.6.6+

STEP 3: get an .iso, Hazards 10.6.1/10.6.2 is a good start

STEP 4: get EFIbootloaderAMD (search around if you have an intel, if you are running linux, you probably already know what bootloader you need.)

STEP 5: initially skip running the boot loader and run the .iso HAZARD disk. once the .iso gets past the initial screen where you can go into BIOS, get into the VM's bios. Make sure the VM BIOS is booting from the CD-ROM first, that'll save you some headache later. Save and exit BIOS. send control alt delete from virtualbox, which should restart the system, and get ready to press F8 after you interrupt the initial boot load by pressing ESC, JUST ONCE, pressing it twice will skip your F8 screen. from the F8 screen type -v and then hit enter.
*note-dont skip this step because it's very important, from my experience, sending the ctrl+alt+del will get you to the proper boot screen where you can press F8 and then you should see your .iso, my original .iso was the hazard 10.6.1/10.6.2, once you see the 'disk' you attached to the virtual drive from the F8 screen hit enter, and install should proceed, if you screwed up, hit esc too many times, etc.. power down the virtual machine just to start it back up and send ctrl alt del until you get to your F8 screen

STEP 6: Make sure you dont just autoclick next on the install up until you start installing... The last window before it starts has a 'Customize' button on the bottom left of it. USE IT. click kexts and drivers as needed per your system. Now is not the time to be lazy, take the time to actually read the descriptions and make logical choices. From my experience the beta kernel that is supposedly an AMD only kernel does not work, it always panics... but that's just my system, you can do whatever you want. You can try installing 10.6.2, but i personally found 10.6.1 to be more stable after installing it over 7 times... Your choice, but the guy who reinstalled 7 times is saying that 10.6.1 is more stable, and you can update straight to 10.6.7 from there, so why fight trying to get to the desktop with 10.6.2? to each their own tho, more props too you if you love beating your head against a wall for no reason

STEP 7: once you've installed, power down the virtual machine and switch the EFIbootloader4AMD.iso in the virtual drive and start the VM.

STEP 8: if the boot loader functioned properly on your newly installed system, you should see two options, one with a CD on it and one with an Apple symbol. ignore the instruction embedded on the bottom of this page, arrow to the Apple, then arrow down to the boot in verbose option and hit enter.

STEP 9: if all went well the OS X desktop should load, once it does, download the 10.6.7 update, and download the 10.7.0 legacy.zip file and extract them both to your desktop... Install the 10.6.7 update, and BEFORE restarting run the 10.7.0 Legacy file found everywhere. Boot using your SAME EFIbootloader4AMD.iso and start again in verbose mode.

STEP 10: if you made it back to the desktop, this is when you download Xcode/SDK and install.'

I was reading on other boards that Xcode seems to have a problem with the CHUD on AMD systems since that was designed for intel based processors.

Any information to point me toward a fix would be helpful...

Have you tried to patch /usr/lib/libSystem.B_debug.dylib and /usr/lib/libSystem.B_profile.dylib with amd_ins_patcher?
You can find the patcher in some of Andys/ANVs old threads
