AMD systems

Unfortunately, for my latest build, I didn't have the money to build an Intel system. Instead, I had to go the AMD route. Now I want to install OS X on this system, but I do not know if I should go Leopard or Snow Leopard. Which distro is recommended since I assume I can't do vanilla?
Specs:
AMD Phenom II X3 720
ASUS M4A785TD-M EVO
PNY GeForce GTS 250
4GB 2x2GB GSkill Ripjaws DDR3 PC-1333 RAM

Universal 3.5works with AMD and Intel, so there is no difference?

And do Apple updates work?

Only the 3.6 edition is Universal as to being able to support both AMD and Intel, but you will have to get a pathcher utility if you want to update, I think.

I am also building an AMD system, it;s not done yet, But I will be using the SnowOSX 3.6 DVD to install, I was also thinking about doing a retail AMD install using the "Experimental" edition of Empire EFI CD with AMD support.

I would recommend doing a retail install, but if you cant just use the SnowOSX 3.6 DVD , and only the 3.6 is truly "Universal" but I would still make sure it mentioned AMD support before downloading.

Ok, I will look at that thread, however it is confusing to me. I haven't really messed with anything since 10.4.11 on my old rig

Lets get your system specs in your signature. You may also want to look up your motherboard's chipsets and include them too as this would be the most important item.

Signature
You can also place this information in your "Signature". It will then appear on every post you make. Please keep your signatures reasonably sized. We do not want to see full page specs. Edit your signature here: http://www.infinitemac.com/faq.php?f...atures_avatars

SnowOSX Universal 3.6 patched for AMD

freezes on the first Apple screen. Hazard reboot constantly. Here's my specs:
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST31000528AS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive
MSI N95GT-MD512Z GeForce 9500 GT 512MB
MSI 790FX-GD70 AM3 AMD 790FX ATX AMD Motherboard
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB DDR3 RAM

I've tried booting the install with:
-v legacy cpus=1 maxmem=2048 busratio=20 noapic
-v legacy cpus=1 maxmem=2048 busratio=20 noapic

Both have the same result nada. Any suggestions?

Thanks
