How to install 10.5.6 on dell e520

Hi this is my first post, Firstly I'd like to thank everyone who has posted just about anything, Just reading through the forum here has helped me get 3 hackintosh's and a mactop going with Leo. I'd Also like to once again thank Milanca for his help getting my first system running solid.

I thought I would provide a how to for the Dell e520 using iPC OSx86 Universal 10.5.6
Please Forgive is there is a better method, I Initially wrote for girlfriend to be able to do her own re installation's if need be.

Dell E520 10.5.6

(please read the hundreds of other guides for how to partition and mount your drive correctly any guide for 10.5.1 - 10.5.6 will do I prefer to use diskpart on windows partition and dual boot)

Note all of my drives including dvd are sata which I installed after purchase if you cannot boot invest 25 bucks in a sata dvd drive

* ipc 10.5.6 universal final Distro [6]

options to select at install Customize section for e520:

* Kernel: 9.5.0 voodoo Kernel
* Video Drivers: My e520 has the 7300LE provided by Dell DON'T INSTALL ANY DRIVERS FOR THIS GRAPHICS CARD WE WILL USE EFI STUDIO TO WRITE STRINGS IN A COUPLE OF CLICKS
* Chipset Drivers: Intel ICHx SATA Drivers
* Audio Drivers: Sigmatel 9227
* Ethernet Drivers: Intel 82566MM/DC
* Fixes and Paches: (included in options) Seatbelt.Kext 10.5.5 (fixes errors mounting DMG images)
* Applications: (included in options) I choose all but you must at least select EFI STUDIO (To enable Quartz Extreme(full graphics card support))

Continue with installation and restart when finished make sure to push a button for options at the first textual screen on the first boot and type "-v -f" then push enter

Once you have gone through all of the initial setup account etc, go to applications folder and launch efi studio select nvidia 7300LE 256mb and click "add device" then from the popup choose "write to com.apple.boot.plist"

then once written successfully quit efi studio and restart computer

Once computer is restarted go to applications, utilities and launch "disk utility" and repair permissions on your installed partition.

Restart once more and your good to go with 10.5.6 perfectly stable with quartz extreme, lan, sleep, restart, shutdown and sound working crash free

Hey I appreciate the guide! If anyone here would like retail check out http://www.infinitemac.com/f19/dell-...l-guide-t3501/

Also, everything seems good in the guide except I personally don't need seatbelt.kext. DMG mounting works fine, and it sounds like I have the same system as you, with the 7300LE (before I upgraded). You may want to try without seatbelt.kext and edit the guide, as many people may like to have a very vanilla system. (If their OCD about uneeded kexts like me hehe) I know on my system at least, I can install retail with IOATAFamily.kext and dsmos.kext. I can use stock IntelCPUPowerManagement.kext because I patched my DSDT. This may be possible using iPC because this distro has the option to patch it right from the installer. Hope this helped =)

Thanks again!
