I guess it's too early to make a list. And i think none of those projects have a website yet - You can find some info about iKaros at osx86project site, but i guess that's all. For now, i think we still have to wait a little bit. =) But still, we might not see as many distro's as in case of Leopard since installing 10.6 is quite easy the retail way.

Anyway, if anyone have smoe info, it'd great to hear it.

Its not difficult at all to install retail anymore, there are plenty of guides to follow, if you have a compatible SATA controller it should be easy to install, although getting all your hardware working, specially on 64 bits, could be a difficult task.
If they made it work on a AMD it should work on a P4 I think, it should be only a matter of using a patched kernel right?

As thorazine74 saied, why shouldn't Retail work on P4? It was already possible on Leopard, with adding a compatible Kernel to the 132-Boot CD, so as there are already patched Kernel for SL on the net it shouldn't be a big deal...

About 10.6 distros: iKaros is unreleased & SnowOSX Universal v3.5, I experienced to be a very unwieldy release, that still needs fixes ones its installed. (Tried in VM only) - so I wouldn't say its worth downloading it.
Furhermore there is some dmg called SnowyWindOSX floating a round, but it's nothing than a pre-installed disk images made for MSI Wind Netbooks.

AMD Phenom II X4 955 - ASRock AM3A770DE - 8GB DDR3-1333 - Radeon HD 5570 1GB passiv - BCM4318 802.11b/g - Snow Leopard Retail

AMD Phenom X3 8450 - ASRock AM2NF6G-VSTA (BIOS L2.39) - 4GB DDR2-800 - Radeon HD 4650 512MB - Snow Leopard Retail (retired) / OpenBSD

By using a distro you won't learn anything, which in turn makes it harder to fix when it goes wrong or when you need to software update.

I'll wager that most distro users have no idea what third party kexts they have installed...

Retail > Distros

Mac OS X 10.6.4 Retail || Intel Core2 Duo E8200 2.66GHz || Gigabyte G31M-ES2L || GeForce 6600 GT 128MB || Realtek ALC883 Audio || Realtek RTL8169 LAN || Samsung SpinPoint F1 1TB HD || Sony Dual Layer IDE DVD RW DW-D22A || Apple Aluminium Keyboard || Mighty Mouse

MacBook Pro || 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo || 200Gb HD || 2Gb Ram || NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT

iPhone 4 || 16Gb

i kno but i tryed to do a retail install and when i tryed to boot from my flashdrive(with a patched kernel) and it KP'ed RIGHT away. so i kinda gave up on it... and i cant try that method again because my friend is kinda moving 10.6 retail to his hardrive at the moment and thats the only flashdrive big enough. so im kinda hoping i can get a distro or just wait for my flashdrive back and try retail one more time... but first i need to make a partition off Leopard... can I boot from my iPC dvd and use Disk Utility to make a partition? and if so hopw would I do this without erasing the hardrive and what partition format would i use? like GUPID and ect?

I've tried the snowOSX universal one, wouldn't boot on my system

I then run the installer inside leopard (using the OSInstall.mpkg) got to the customize menu found it a bit limiting in the number of kexts/fixes available. Also there was just one "snow bootloader" to choose from. I chose the best choices for my system and proceeded with the install. Then finished up and made DSDT as described, rebooted and guess what?

Bootloader didn't work. So I installed chameleon RC3 and managed to get it booting from that drive, now the only obstacle I got now is trying to find what kexts are causing the kernel panics.

I've spent so much effort trying to get this distro to work I might as well installed from retail version, I didn't have too many problems using the developer previews there's plenty of guides about. Not saying we shouldn't have distros, it's just the quality from some is lacking these days.
