Comp Acting up??

I opend mail with a message that said the permissions on (such and such) are incorrect please change to Read and Write. So i did, tryed it once more i got the same error but on a different folder... So i go through the whole mail folder changing the permissions so everybody can read and write(i am the admin) when Im done mail opens, but it gives me this read only error and I cant delete messages... also, when I tryed to download something it told me I had no disk space left.. which is bullshit because its a 300GB hardrive(ive used like 40) any ideas??? because i kinda need my comp to work...

seems something got corrupted in your mail folder if I understand correctly this is your default mail app from snow leopard, if so see if you can rename the mail folder in ~/Library/Mail and ~/Library/Mail Download to something different (example Mailbackup and Maildownloadbackup) then restart your mail app and see if it gives you the same errors

if you used mail app you should have a mail folder in
/User/YOURNAME/Library/
try this
reboot in -s mode
Code:
/sbin/mount -uw /
then
Code:
/sbin/fsck -fy
let finish then reboot
Code:
exit

one more thing make sure you have permissions to read & write
right click on your drive snow leopard is located and select Get info
theres a tab that says
sharing & permissions
make sure that (you) and the (system) have read and write permissions
and then when you do click the button that looks like a gear and select
(apply to enclosed items)
good luck
