How do I get the image of an icon?

Now lets say I have an icon that I found and I imported it to candybar. Well now I just want the picture of that icon so I can make it into something like an avatar. For example my avatar is the finder icon. (I found my avatar online and touched it up but it was originally a picture) Originally someone got the icon from somewhere??

Another example is lets say I have itunes on my computer and I want the picture of the itunes icon. Is there a way to find the picture of it?

I found the invisible files inside of this icon from candybar and one of them says "icon" but has no file format. If I change it to a .jpg file it does not do anything...I don't even know if I'm on the right track haha.

Take a look at the Iconographer app: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/11842 Should be able to export out. I think you can also keep alpha masks for photoshop.

Thank You for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I'm getting a "The application Iconographer quit unexpectedly" error whenever I open it though?

Sometimes im I can kinda get a feel for where the problem is however Ive got nothing for this one. This is however not the only program like this. If you google osx icon software or creator you should find several more. I remember going through a bunch before I found this one.
