Will Mac OS X86 Work on This Hardware?

Hello, all. I am new here and to Mac OS X86. I currently have a Mac mini, but will be selling it and making a custom-built PC. I wanted to know if there is any possibility of Mac OS X86 working on this hardware and if I'll have limitations (sound or ethernet not working, etc.):

Processor: AMD Phenom X4 9500 (Quad-Core)
Graphics Processor: Radeon HD 4850
Motherboard: Asus M3A78
RAM: Corsair Dual Channel 4GB (2x2) @800 MHz
Optical Drive: HP DVD1140i

Additionally, I would like to know if it does work, what do I have to get in order for it to work (what files or patches, etc.). I will not ask for where to get it since it's not permitted here.

Thanks.

Have you bought the hardware yet? If not I would suggest you look into something intel based as this will make your life so much easier.

Otherwise, I would probably look at installing using iPC first to get your system running and work out what kexts (drivers) you will need.

You'll need to make sure you install the Voodoo kernel you as are running AMD. Also looking at Newegg, make sure you install support for the SB700 southbridge chipset (otherwise you won't be able to boot) and ALC883 audio. I have no experience with ATI cards so I can't offer a suggestion on that, FYI nvidia is better supported on Leopard. I'll let you work out the rest, otherwise you'll never learn anything...

Long term you should look at going the EFI partition route, as this will make updating your system from Apple Software Update possible.

Mac OS X 10.6.4 Retail || Intel Core2 Duo E8200 2.66GHz || Gigabyte G31M-ES2L || GeForce 6600 GT 128MB || Realtek ALC883 Audio || Realtek RTL8169 LAN || Samsung SpinPoint F1 1TB HD || Sony Dual Layer IDE DVD RW DW-D22A || Apple Aluminium Keyboard || Mighty Mouse

MacBook Pro || 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo || 200Gb HD || 2Gb Ram || NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT

iPhone 4 || 16Gb

How do I install support for the SB700 Southbridge chipset? Do I have to download drivers for it? And what about the ALC883? Do I have to download drivers for that, too?

The Radeon HD 4850 comes in one of the iMac configurations as an option, so it should be supported by Mac OS X, right? I know that Mac OS X 10.5.7 includes a lot of drivers for different GPUs...

Many thanks for your help. I'll be considering getting an Intel CPU.

as u instal iPC, you will see a section for Customize. Click it and look for drivers for your hardware. thats how you install drivers during the instal. But for things that are supported, but no on the DVD, google will be able to help you out.

That's great. Now I'm probably gonna give it a try. BTW, is there a list of the drivers that are included in the newest version of iPC? That would help a lot. Thanks.
