Hardware RAID or Software RAID?
I have the x58 motherboard, with ICH10 chipset. When I tried doing a RAID 0 using the hardware, my old 10.5.6 install DVD could not detect the array and showed up as 2 separate disks.
Snow, on the other hand, has integrated support for my chipset, (no kexts required), So I want to ask, If i created a hardware raid, would I be able to use it with Snow if I install snow leopard on from another HDD? (OSX86 HDD)--(install within Snow)---> (Raid 0 [2x 1tb HDD's]) I'm just asking because I know the 10.5.6 DVD didn't have support for my ICH10 so it wasn't maybe detecting it, but If i do Hardware RAID now, will Snow detect it and let me use it? (If all fails, I will just use Software) OS: Snow Leopard Mac OS X 10.6.2 (10C540) | Vanilla Kernel | 64 bit Kernel | EFI64 CPU: Intel Core i7 920 @ 3.6 GHz GPU: 2x SLI Dual GTX 260 (OpenCL working)(QE+CI) RAM: 6GB DDR3 1600MHz 7-7-7-20 AUDIO: Realtek (5.1 config) HDD: RAID 0- 1 + 1TB HDD's | 320GB HDD MOBO: MSI X58 Platinum SLI (Intel ICH10) CASE: Haf 932 Full Tower Case + Red Cathodes MONITOR: Asus VK266H 26" 1920x1200 LCD All working |

I havent checked but as Apple never supported Intel BIOS RAID or any other motherboard RAID I assume Snow Leopard hasnt changed that. Having built-in support for ICH10 in IDE or AHCI mode doesnt mean it supports RAID mode.
