RTL8187B kext Project

This project is to make patched .kext files for all possible revisions of the Realtek RTL8187B cards that everyone wants to use for this card, now all of them are the RTL8187B WIFI card, but some have different device IDs that dont work with my patched .kext file for this card.

So if you are not getting working WIFI with my .kext for the RTL8187B WIFI card then post here so new .kext files and maby in the future installer packages for easy setup and installation can be made.

Here is a link to my patched .kext for this card---->http://www.infinitemac.com/f5/wifi-r...rd-10-5-t4588/

Hi,

I've tried your kext to get my rtl8187b based wlan usb stick to work under snow leopard 10.6.2 (64 bit), unfortunately the stick doesn't light up when plugged in (it is detected in system profiler). When I start the realtek usb wlan client utility it doesn't come up at all and stops responding.

The information in system profiler about the wlan stick is:

RTL8187B_WLAN_Adapter:

Product ID: 0x0028
Vendor ID: 0x0df6
Version: 2.00
Serial Number: 00e04c000001
Speed: Up to 480 Mb/sec
Manufacturer: Manufacturer_Realtek
Location ID: 0xfd400000
Current Available (mA): 500
Current Required (mA): 500

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

I've just received my dell 1490 mini pci-e card. This one works out of the box! So now wireless USB stick for me anymore! I can recommend this card to everyone with a laptop and mini pci-e possibility.

O.k just to let y'all know the patched file is actually a patched retail kext, it should work for all internal WIFI cards that are a RTL8187B, The internal cards are slightly different and need a different device ID, but it may work on some external sticks, The reason I patched this kext was to get the WFI on my Toshiba L305 to work.

Thanks for doing this.
I have a Toshiba L40 with the same wireless card.
I apply the kext, using KextUtility, reboot, and run the app also provided. The app does absolutely nothing. Just jumps once.
What should I do?
Also, is the name of the kext suppose to end with the t? Thanks, and please help me if you can.

Well. I've got it to work!
However I have a problem/question.
Everytime I boot the realtek utility asks me for the password.
How can I avoid this?
