Hi Guys I've installed 10.6 retail with ModCD on Dell Dimension 3000.

I have tried to modify the kext, but just screw it up, way above my pay rate. Hope someone smarter than me can figure it out . Thanks in advance Zuesko.

Please try this one :

http://www.mediafire.com/?9a6h9f43533793q

But first remove the kext you've installed before.

It seems to have your device listed :

<key>ICH5 AC97 Audio</key>
<dict>
<key>CFBundleIdentifier</key>
<string>com.apple.driver.AppleAC97AudioIntelICH</string>
<key>ICH Type</key>
<integer>5</integer>
<key>IOClass</key>
<string>AppleAC97AudioIntelICH</string>
<key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key>
<string>0x24d58086</string>
<key>IOProbeScore</key>
<integer>10000</integer>
<key>IOProviderClass</key>
<string>IOPCIDevice</string>
</dict>

You might have to edit IOPCIPrimaryMatch to match your device ( 0xfeb7fa00 ). But it should work even without it. If it's a laptop, try AzaliaAudio as a temporary solution if this next doesn't work. Please let me know how this worked for you :-)

Hi, I too have the same trouble. I am using a Dell Dimension 1100 machine, had iDeneb 1.3 OS 10.5.5 installed with everything working great. needed to upgrade os to get itunes and safari updates. installed OSX 10.6.0 by Hazzard. all went well except for the sound. I have the AppleAC97audio.kext installed that you posted and still nothing. the volume control displays next to the clock, but no sound. in the midi setup I can get channel 3 and 6 to make the speakers play static!
