Hi guys,
nice to post my first post here! After a lot of reading now I've got K50IN! Thank you for your job!
To start off course i need the retail DVD so I've got 10a432, hope the good choice.
Now i'm installing 10.5.8 to have desktop to restore to USB an use "installnow" to have DSDT and on...
Managing also to buy a DVD DL to burn the retail and try K50IN boot CD.
Is it a good start?
LAMPS!!

No luck with USB procedure (see post #1)... it boots and hang while loading installer, no KP, just freeze.
But loading the USB via K50IN boot cd, and off course executing "installnow", it install.
WOW

ASUS-K50IN-BootCD.iso v1.1 (http://depositfiles.com/files/yf2hm5w73)
Changes log:
1) touchpad is working(VoodooPS2) during the installation and when the system starts with bootCD
2) disabled graphic enabler and added NVEnabler x64 ...
3) now the sound works from bootCD
4) you get almost fully functional system is already at the first run

OK, so i can say that ASUS-K50IN-BootCD.iso v1.1 (http://depositfiles.com/files/yf2hm5w73) boots perfecly Hazard distro and I can get to desktop in 15 minutes. 10.6.2. off course.
BUT system starts without BootCD only with -x... Ethernet native, battery ok
To every one reading I have to specify that I'm barely total newbie :)
Any suggestion about kext to choose in Hazard during install?
I'm going to try and prey, which is useful to learn, but any suggestion will be welcome!
teierina
02-05-2010, 07:32 PM
NEXT STEP!
Now i can install direcly from Hazard distro, just adding cpus=1
After plain install, no kext selected, i can boot with -x
Then i copy the Extra folder and NVenabler in E/E and kextutil to fix permission.
Now i can boot. Very GOOD! In just three boot!
It's time for QE/CI and wireless

Hey guys.
I am a newbie to this forum so this is my first post. I have been a long established Apple user and love Mac OS X, but have been considering a Hackintosh recently.
I have been searching around for the K50IN and have come accross this: K50IN-SX025C.
http://greatdigitalart.com/index.php?dispa...product_id=1310 (http://greatdigitalart.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=1310)
I can see that the graphics card is the same but the chipset appears to be different and so does the CPU.
Does anyone have any experience with this laptop? Anyone know if it will work?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
ellnic

Sounds like this may be worth a go :D
I have an original 10.6 DVD - From what I have read, this will work with the Asus Boot CD? Or is it preferred to have the one by Hazard?
I wouldn't use VGA out - but wireless could be an issue - I have a Sonnet Aria card that I could use - might order the Dell 1490 a/b/g mentioned on page 1 - although I would like 802.11n.
Cheers :)

This may be better - Will have to check out the spec in more details....
ASUS N50VC FP008C - Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz - 15.4 " - 4 GB Ram - 320 GB HDD
Anyone got any ideas?
Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 / 2.4 GHz
Mobile Intel PM45 Express
NVIDIA GeForce 9300M G
Also has:
Bluetooth 2.1 EDR
IEEE 1394
And a few other things which the SV025C did not.
Anyone got this machine? Works? It's only Ł40 more. Seems worth the investment!!
EDIT: Found out that the CPU is the same as Macbook 13" - but not sure about the GPU & Chipset.

How can I create a Dual Boot install?
You can look here (http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2009/11/dual-boot-windows-7-and-os-x-snow.html).
And I can say that I have installed 10.6, after that I installed Windows to the second partition. All was fine. After that I booted from boot CD into the OSX. But when I have installed Chameleon v2 onto the EFI partition it broke windows os...
UPDATE: New ASUS-K50IN-BootCD version 2 (http://depositfiles.com/files/vy66mha54) is available with new features and no bugs!
ChangeLog of version 2:
1) A touchpad is working during the installation and when the system starts with bootCD (ApplePS2Controller.kext compiled special for Elan Ps/2 Port Smart-Pad by Rus).
2) Corrected info.plist in HPETDevice.kext for better compatibility
3) Included a folder of Tools (Kext Utillity, Show-Hide Files tool, Chameleonv2RC4.pkg by Dr.Hurt).
4) Included a folder of Kexts - all the necessary drivers

I have booted from windows DVD ( run > cmd > diskpart > select disk 0 > select partition 3 > active > exit )& reboot. One more time I have booted from windows DVD. And I have repaired my windows without any problems. After that I set the EFI partition as active from windows ( run > cmd > diskpart > select disk 0 > select partition 1 > active > exit )
After reboot and chameleon works fine...

Is there any way to get the default apple boot image instead of a debug? I know its not critical, but it would be nice to see the apple logo at boot, instead of reading the same boot code over and over each time it boots!

bump, anyone/
Here is how you get the better looking Apple logo at the boot phase.
Look at your /Extra/com.apple.boot.plist file.
Find a line with Kernel Flags
Remove the -v that you see there. That actually means, verbose boot, which shows all these debug verbose boot message, that can used to somehow debug the boot process.
If you need it back, just add the -v in, or during the boot:
Select your Hack partition (that one that contains the Mac)
Type directly -v
The press Enter key

Work sleep only 64 bit, with the use GraphicsEnabler = Yes in Chameleon or DSDT patch, EVOenabler.kext,NVinject.kext,Natit.kext(correctin g info.plist). Need ApplePS2Controller.kext_by_Rus and patching IOAudioFamily.kext (audio wake up after sleeps).
Dont works sleep if use 32(64) bit used NVEnabler.kext, and VoodooPS2.kext, not modified ApplePS2Controller.kext.

I followed the previous posts about it. After waking up, all are just fine. Audio works, keyboard, video but the system hangs. I can see and move the cursor around the screen but no activities at all, i can't launch an application, dock doesn't respond, just a moving cursor, weird!

Using 32-bit here.
One thing I notice: in 32-bit mode, if you get really jumpy mouse, you just shutdown the computer, and start the Mac right-away.
After booting Windows and then restart to go to Hack, it will have the strange mouse behavior. Shutdown ... leave for about 5 seconds ... then boot right-away INTO Hack, then you get smooth mouse again.
I find the 32-bit a bit more advantegeous, because I can have the Paragon NTFS reading/writing my NTFS partition at native speed. The only drawback, is that you must connect your second display monitor (if you use it) in order for it to be detected. It can be removed, but it will not be detected after removing.
But that, I think, not everybody needs that. ;)

Good day!
I'm having trouble with my usb 500gb external drive. I use this on both machine (Windows & OSX). It was formatted as NTFS. Before, it can mount on my desktop in read-only mode. Then i tried to install ntfs-3g yesterday but it says will not run on 64-bit kernel, so i removed the driver. After uninstalling the ntfs-3g/macfuse, it won't mount my external drive anymore. I can see the disk on disk utility.
How will I revert it back to be able to mount it and use it as read-only, at least?
Any help will be much appreciated.

Nice! Me too, still waiting for the atheros fix, else, buy a wireless card.
Another Q, does your hackbook sleeps when you set a time? I did a test, set mine to 15, 10, 5, 1 minute to standby but it never sleeps, but my system will only sleep manually (pressing power button or from Apple menu). What should I do? TIA

I have recently purchased an Asus K50IN-X7S and installed Snow Leopard using methods described in this forum (thanks all btw) and am 99%on my way to a perfect install but I have 1 small problem.
After sleep, the Fn key on the keyboard does not work(for brightness, sleep, etc) , and if I attempt to use it, the Ctrl Key seemingly gets stuck down within the OS making it unusable.
Anybody have any suggestions for a fix? If not, could someone post their working keyboard kexts so I can try them for myself. Thanks

Could someone with working Fn key after sleep post their Extra folder as a zip file so I could experiment with my laptop? Thanks
Also, if I choose to update to 10.6.2 from 10.6.0, what additional kexts/patches do I need?

Hello guys,
First, many thanks to your experiments, and the shared stuff. My English can strange, becouse I am writing from Hungary :)
I have an ASUS K50IN SX-021L and I would like to install Snow Leopard but I have stucked at the starting line. I am come from the Windows era but I have some experience with the Linux systems too.
I have burned some Retail Snow Leopard Install DVD, but non of them wants to boot, with the K50IN Boot CD v2. Is this normal?
I have decided to try the installer script. (http://www.infinitemac.com/f57/pre-install-automator-v1-1-for-easily-installing-t4041/) Do I need to have a Mac to do the first step? „Restore the retail "Snow Leopard Install DVD" to a read/write disk partition (hdd or usb flash drive).”
What do I exactly need to do the install? An usb flash drive, a retail dvd, a mac?
How can I make an USB installer disk?
My spec is: ASUS K50IN-SX021L | Mobile Intel® Core2 Duo T6500 2100 MHz | 4096MB DDR2/800MHz | NVIDIA® GeForce G102M/512MB | Chipset: NVIDIA MCP75L
Please help me to get over the first difficulties.
Greetings from Hungary!

hello there,
yes you have to have a working osx for running the installer script, partition it with GUID and then you need to restore the original DVD or image that i suppose you have of SNow Leopard 10.6 onto it. After your USB is ready you proceed to boot with -v or cpus=1 if you need it,

Hi flip360!
Thanks for the quick answer. I will try it in a vmware leopard (because I don't have a Mac).
I am still interesed in the other topic, install from dvd.
What can you suggest me?
Should the retail install dvd boot with the k50in boot cd? Won't boot for me, I'll try the Hazard edition tomorrow.
If not, what is the correct method to boot the retail install dvd?
Best Regards!

Hi,
I'm a newbie and I was trying to install Snow Leopard in my new Asus K40IN-X1 laptop. I downloaded the Asus K50in bootCD v2 and I followed the steps installing from an original Snow Leopard DVD. In the first try I received the "Still waiting for root device" message so I booted the CD with the -x -v parameters and the installation began. According to the installer, the installation was successful. However when the system restarted, the error "devfs_kernel_mount: f " appeared in the screen and the boot process halted. I searched in google and in the forum and I changed the SATA configuration from "Enhanced" to "Compatible" but I'm still stuck in the "Still waiting for root device" error. What's the next step to follow to make a successful installation?
Thanks

we have the same specs and booting works fine for me, but mind you that i used the USB install method and i have the NUllCPUManager loading during boot time...i think that you have KP`s because there is no presence of the mentioned kext, which is required (i think) for the first boot, also try and boot the instalation with -x -v or better yet try one of the distros available like snowosx...

Hi,
I've followed this youtube guide (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WptK8yL-93Q) to make a snow leopard install usb disk. Then use the install script (http://www.infinitemac.com/f57/pre-install-automator-v1-1-for-easily-installing-t4041/) that mentioned at the thread's first page. Mind that you can install snow leo only on a guid scheme partition. I've deleted my whole HDD yesterday ;) But this method works for me too. Some parts of my notebook doesn't works yet, but I don't give up. Thanks for everyone!

Hi Guys,
I am very happy that I've succeeded to install the snow leopard to my K50IN. Just an interesting notice: At the end of the install, the installer told me that the process is failed, however after the reboot the snow leo booted up without any complains.
Only few things I couldn't fix, yet. The keyboard and the touchpad is dead, the shutdown and the sleep doesn't work.
The keyboard worked after the 10.6.2 update, but when I fixed the audio it came unusable. I've tried a couple of ApplePS2Controllers, but none of them worked.
Please advise me a kext for the PS2 and the shutdown/sleep issue.
Thanks a lot!

There is no way, you have to have a working mac to crate it.
Fortunately, you can make an usb installer under windows, as I did.
The method is the following:
Download a leopard or snow leopard vmware image from a torrent site (btjunkie "mac vmware")
Download the free vmware player (http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/VMware-Player.shtml)
Boot the mac vmware image, it may boot without errors. (Open virtual machine, than play virtual machine. At the settings give at least 1GB memory to the virtual machine)
I couldn't find how to create shared folders with vmware mac so I copied the Snow Leopard installer.dmg to my usb, than I copied the dmg to the virtual mac's desktop.
Copy the installer script and the kexts to your virtual mac, and follow the installer script's steps.
From that point you can follow the youtube tutorial too. I've managed to install snow leopard in this way.
Feel free to ask.

Are you using a mac vmware image or try to install mac to a vmware virtual machine?
I suggest you to use a vmware image, so you don't have to take time to install and configure.

Almost. It is a fully installed virtual mac, saved to an image file which is exectuable by vmware.
Choose one. (http://btjunkie.org/search?q=mac+vmware)
For example. (http://btjunkie.org/torrent/Fully-Functional-mac-OS-X-10-5-8-vmware-image-intel-FIXED/83530e0812837acb4217bc9ebd8449094ecb0f4717dd)

Don't care about it. Just run vmware player, choose "open virtual machine", browse to the directory, and you shold see only one file which is executable, than "Play virtual machine".

I have get kernel panic too by reason of SleepEnabler. Try deleting nullcpumanagement kext from the usb. Flip360 said that you don't need nullcpumanagement.kext if you use the newest asus bios.

Hi Guys,
I am very happy that I've succeeded to install the snow leopard to my K50IN.
Adam

flip360
03-15-2010, 12:26 PM
hello guy`s,
@ Georgie99: it is a weird install at first but when one gets hold of the proper install method, everything is smoothie afterwards :) I hope you upgraded to the latest ASUS BIOS (221 i think). Try booting the USB with cpus=1 or -x, if you manage to install it, boot once more from the USB`s chameleon boot, and choose your fresh partition for booting. This will get you through the welcome screen. Also have the latest Chameleon 2 installed on the boot partition afterwards. I have reinstalled the notebook once more and have found out that we do not have any more use of SleepEnabler.kext or NullCPUPowerManagement.kext (which as it turns out is needed only for the USB install method).
@ keresztesvitez and mao_red and everyone else: here try this set of extensions that i am using now: http://www.mediafire.com/?mmnyizlznyn
I have proper restart/shutdown, audio, graphic, keyboard and trackpad (with multitouch gestures) and i am also using http://www.jinx.de/SmartSleep.html for working sleep mode, just dont forget to use the kext utility! :)
Cheers

I installed original retail SL succesfully. I can only boot with boot CD though. I installed chameleon v2 but gives a kernel panic.
So appart from the bootloader and wifi i've got a stable hackbook!!(thnx to the people who made this possible):D
I bought a USB wifi reciever (sitecom wl-353), downloaded the latest OSX driver but then got a kernel panic. So i tried to uninstall the driver, but it seems to be still there. When i plug the USB in i get a kernel panic again.
Can someone please help me? I don't have a clue what to do next...

hello...everbody...i have managed to install 10.5.8 and 10.6 Snow Leopard from Snow Installer 3.5 DVD, but now i want to create a boot-132 cd....booting is fine with chameleon rc4 but when need to start installer it is writing...Unable to find driver for this platform...ACPI stuff...so i go futher to look and see line that write...
Patched DMI Table. No DSDT replacement found. Leaving ACPI data as is. No SMBIOS replacement found.
So i think i need to pach my dsdt.aml and put it on boot-132 cd...a have patched it as you instructed fork50io ( i have asus k70io),,,and patch dsdt.aml and put into extra extensionsfolder and into preboot.dmg file...kext are loaded but dsdt.aml are not.
So where a need to put this DSDT.aml into boot-132 cd to make it loadable when i bot cd to make retail instalation?
Many thanks...:) And all is working ..sound...vga...sleep...speedsteep..only wirelless card is not woring but i will swap it with another one...

downloading...:)
i have installed the 10.6.3 update succesfully, without any problems but after reboot i have no audio, everything else seems normal, so i would ask buhgalter and clubber_77 to work their magic again :)
Update: i have replaced the original files with the 10.6.2 files from this thread and it works just not with sleep, after coming back from sleep i lose sound.
oh, and another thing, i noticed that ASUS have a new BIOS out:
Version 222
Description BIOS 222
Firmware Change
anyone willing to try?
maybe we have even more native OSX support in there :)

I have also just installed 10.6.3, and the 32-bit mode is broken in the graphics part. It works just fine if I disable graphics (not providing any driver whatsoever), but as soon as I put NVEnabler in, then it does not work anylonger.
The thing is: it shows-up, but with garbled and distorted graphics, and it is not usable at all. I'd love to hear some inputs on how are these stuffs fixed.

hello...i have fixed problem with Unable to find driver for this plaform...ACPI.....
The solution is to download Golden Master Snow Leopard and burn it al low speed...so i just buy new Dual Layer DVD burn new dmg Snow Leopard to this disc with low speed and voila...no KP...:)
I have Asus K70IO which has Nforce MCP79 witch is native supported by apple kext...i have copy a50io.kext and hdaenabler.kext...and sound is working crystal..al is recognized(alo i have added pinconfig into dsdt and system profiler recognizes)
but problem is when i dont play any sound i hera from speaker "click" every 5 seconds...how to fix this??
i im running snow leopard vanilla install, speedstep so how to fix this every 5 seconds "click" sound...
many thanks..:)

04-11-2010, 10:42 AM
hy...everbody....i have installed on my k70io 10.6.3 combo update and hexedited AppleHDA.kext 1.8.4...just opet in AppleHDA.kext AppleHDA binary....use hedexitor and change 8508EC10 to 6206EC10 ( i 4 times) and put HDAEnabler.kext ( i use dsdt patch for HDAController).... put this modified AppleHDA.kext into S/L/E ..then use kext utility reboot and voila....sound is working....:)
and "click" sound every 5seconds is now gone with 10.6.3 update so this AppleHDA.kext has fixed my click sounds....
just a question: i have seen on other forum a guythat wrote a tutorial about dsdt patching and insert your pinconfig into dsdt so you dont need legacy k50io.kext...a have try to insert pinconfig...from my linux codec dump...in system profiler it shows that config but without patched applehda...sound is not working....have one solution to use dsdt patch for pinconfig in dsdt?
so when dsdt is loaded..it loads a hdacontroller patch and automaticly insert and patch applehda on boot...this will be great becuse on futher updates we will not lost sound again and we will not patch manually applehda.
flip360
04-11-2010, 01:36 PM

Here is it:
http://rapidshare.com/files/374653162/AppleHDA.kext.zip.html
just install it with kext helper...and install HDAEnabler.kext or DSDT HDA patch and use kext utility and sound is working....
i im currently testing and working to use AppleHDAController.kext to use vanilla kext of applehda.kext without hdaenabler.kext...i have mcp79 chipset on mobo and i see that it hasnative support for this northbridge chipset...
flip360

04-11-2010, 08:19 PM
so...flip360 have you tried my bin patched kext with hdaenabler and have you sound? and clicking noise is gone??
by me is working perfectly...i have no luck of modifying applehda device to use without hdaenabler...so i have write hdac and hdef device in my dsdt and now it injects al correctly..and great news is that i dont need pinconfig and other stuff..it inject into ioregistry automaticaly value at boot...:)

why did you remove sleepenabler.kext via Windows...???
you may delete it from your OSX86 just before you restart your system after update to 10.6.3, and you have to copy the sleepenabler.kext attached together with 10.6.3 update
my previous system Acer Aspire 4736G with Snow Leopard Hazard 10.6.2 can successfully updated to 10.6.3 after remove old kext and copy new one (not replace),

When I installed the Hazard, I just selected GraphicEnabler, and none of NVEnabler nor NVInject I selected, cos of causing blank screen.

@uwannacookie: yes you can try hazard`s distro,
@0call: i use the chameleon graphic enabler (more vanilla), and what do you mean "my pc non function only battery"? For the working kexts for K50 look at the first page and read through the pages, there is a lot of knowledge burried in there ;)
cheers

Hi guys!
Just updated to 10.6.3 without problems. Only thing is clicking audio... but the link on RapidShare says the file is over quota... could anyone place it in a different place?
@Flip360 Maybe you can place an archive with all the updated kext!
Just great anyway! Hope a new K50IN install CD will come out soon, so i can go to holidays with just everything in one dvd to fix results of my experiments!!!
