Hi,

I would prefer if we keep this forum clean of offtopic talk, or is there somebody who absolutely doesn't want to miss it?

Please don't get me wrong, I'd just like to keep this place very clean and informative.

Sure, but some Offtopic threads must be there, it's for fun, information, for the community at all. If you see it that way, the 'Desktops' threads are also not neccessary. I already thought to ask in the 'July Desktops' thread if this discussion is really neccessary (we had a lot of it), but I didn't do it.

Could you add a new dicussion filter for 'Offtopic Discussions' (or maybe a better word) on the left side, and that these disussions weren't shown on the main page? This also would be good for the Closed Discussions.

BTW: I got the error again :-P

Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't offtopic chat the whole point having a 'lounge' area...?

Apologies if that's not the case Olli

Yes, you are right.
It was or is dedicated for that purpose, but I have changed my mind.
I suggest to delete offtopic talk and concentrate on useful and informative posts.

What do you think? There are Instant Messengers and IRC to do this.

@naquaada, I think Desktop Threads are very related, because guests who have not yet been able to explore the beautiful OS on their PCs can get some inspiration.

But for IRC or Instant Messengers you need an extra program. I'm only using IRC and Skype, and this VERY rarely because there are no people online which I know :-P But I'm all the day in the forum, so it's easier to share information this way.

But we can do something different One Off-topic-talk discussion, all others will be deleted (how about the desktop threads?) If someone else starts an off-topic thread, it will be deleted immediately by an admin. How about this?

GRRR i got this error again!!!

Thinking about it I believe that if this forum had the usual front page category view when logging in then it wouldn't be a problem. Since all posts from all the sections show together on the front page it would probably cause the thread listing to become diluted if everyone started posting offtopic chat.

It would be nice to have something though for offtopic, it can help form a strong friendly community. Maybe as Naquadda mentioned separating it somehow, possibly by making one thread an off topic sticky and remove the lounge. Then all the fun and random unrelated stuff can be kept separate in one thread.
