Ok for those of you getting stuck loading to desktop for 2 minutes, you need to install EFI and the 9.2.0 kernel and it will load like normal. I installed EFI with boot_v8/applesmbios.kext and the new system.kext/dsmos.kext/mach_kernel and all is back to normal.

i can also confirm that the new 9.2.0 kernel does indeed fix the long boot-up problem. woohoo! back to normal
