What you do is boot from the disc BUT instead of pressing F8 when prompted, just leave it and let it countdown and if all goes well you will boot into your Leopard installation ... You can then download Chameleon and install it to fix your boot problem ... NB: if you have osx86 tools, you can use that too ... |

Is this update worth the risk or is it even really worth it to update? I always seem to screw up my computer when I update =P ( Im using 10.5.5 right now )
Mac OS X 10.5.5 • Voodoo 9.5.0 • 2.7 GHz AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+ • 2 GB 1334 MHz DDR2 • NVIDIA GeForce 9500M-M MB • Maxtor 75 GB IDE |

every update is (in some ways) worth it. If you are affected by the list of fixes from 10.5.5 then you should... otherwise it isn't as necessary. But it isn't that difficult to do. If you've got a little knowledge about your system and have tinkered with OS X AND read the forum posts lately about it then it won't hurt you to update.
It is normal for sound and video to not be fully supported right after an update since Apple may introduce new kexts that replace the ones modified by the hackintosh user in the past. Just make sure you save all the "special" kexts that you needed in order to get your system working to where it is now. Then you won't have a problem when you reboot back in and have to fix them. ![]() |

Just finished updating my AMD machine to 10.5.6, but I'm now having problems with the video driver.
I tried the EFIStudio string install but the machien gives me a blank screen (mouse freezes). Removed it using single user from com.apple.Boot.plist file and it loads fine though no nVidia driver installed. Tried the old NVinject.kext and the NVdarwin.kext but doesn't work as well. Any help to point me in the right direction is appreciated. |

All went always fine, my pc is triple booting in XP (default), Vista32 and Leopard with the easybcd bootloader 1.72. Never tried other booting methods 'cause all was perfect until this 10.5.6 update... XP and Vista are on a physical HD, Leo is on another HD partitioned in 3 partition: Leopard (system), Programs and Archive (in GUID). I use to make image backups with disk Utility from installation dvd disk and when i have problems i restore hd image from DiskUtility so no problem for return back to a functional system. I tried to upgrade to 10.5.6 with pcwiz utilities, installing PCEfi v9 and DSTD patch.. no errors, but on reboot i had a boot0 error.. I can even try with XP bootloader, cause i'm reinstalling Xp without Vista, and at the moment my 10.5.5 work perfectly with it. Way out?
