Acer® Aspire® 4530-6823.

Hey: guys,
Below in my signature is the specs of my laptop. I've been trying to install OSX on it, but no luck. Installer DVD don't boot.
Already tried XxX Final DVD:
Already tried with iatkos 5i:
Boot with "-f -v" and (first not reload extensions, sound like it skeeps "-f" flag) after loading extensions(.mkext) stop loading....

I think it's maybe because haven't the chipset kext.

Already tried Kalyway 10.5.2:
Boot "modbinkernel -f -v" and load all the extensions, reboot.

This one sound like the kernel don't support my cpu.

I'm thinking about using other distro: leo4all or zeph, but besides that, no else to do....

Any help would be great.

CPU: Intel Pentium Dual E2140 1.6 GHz. Graphics: Intel(R) 82945G (128 MB). Board: Asus P5GC-TVM/S Chipset: Intel Lakeport-G i945GC. HDD: 232 Gb S-ATA Samsung
Version 10.6.2 32bit. Kernel: Vanilla. Audio: VoodooHDA 0.2.2 with prefpane. Video: Stock GMA. PS2 fix: VoodooPS2
USB 2 not working

Acer Aspire 4530-6823
CPU: AMD Athlon™ X2 QL-62 2.0GHz. Graphics: Integrated GeForce® 9100M G. Chipset: nForce® MCP77MH.

Hi erick2red!

I'm not going to be able to help you, I just thought I'd let you know that we have a similar thread started at Insanely Mac and are going to try to figure it out also... I've tried a bunch of distro's and have yet to figure out whats the problem... Keep me posted!

Post from Insanely Mac:

However, I can't seem to get past the first few seconds of the startup sequence.... I've tried AHCI mode and IDE from the Bios. I have tried booting every one with and without -v & -x. I've burnt each disc twice at 4X. (Slowest I could.)

iDeneb 10.5.5 v1.3 (Boots to "Loading HFS+ file:[/System/Library/Extensions.mkext] from 4230480." then freezes until I press a key. Then the computer restarts.),

Kalyway 10.5.2, (Makes it 100 lines down quite quickly, then restarts computer.)

Leo4all 10.5.2 v2, (Makes it 7 lines down then restarts computer.)

Leo4all 10.5.2 v3, (Makes it 100 lines quite quickly down, then restarts computer.)

JaS 10.4.8, (Boots to "Loading HFS+ file:[/System/Library/Extensions.mkext] from 4230450." Then the computer restarts.)

iAtkos 10.5.1.(Boots to "Loading HFS+ file:[/System/Library/Extensions.mkext] from 4230450." Then the computer restarts.)

Zephyrot 10.5.2 v2 and LawlessPPCPhenomLeo and iPC 10.5.6 apparently also do the same thing!

I can't find any information in the forums or wiki about support for the processor or video card. I've looked all over, there was mention of the processor on the Portuguese portion of the forums but Google Translate didn't help much. I don't know much about programing or Macs in general but I am trying. If I could get help to at least get computer to install and boot, I could probably figure out the kexts for the other peripherals myself (Hopefully! ).

I tried to be as thorough as possible on this information! Thanks for the help guys!

If it reboots on its own even in -v I guess the problem is the kernel. I would try some 10.5.6 release that has the latest Voodoo kernel posible and use the cpus=1 flag, that should give you best chances than all those old releases.

Ohhh, thxs, works like charm.
i booted XxX Final DVD and install it, now just having usual troubles, it seems that the DVD didn't install me voodoo kernel, still can't boot into the system, but it's rolling, let's wait.

That's great!
Hope all of us Aspire 4530 users could work together in making this work. I think I'm getting crazy making nVidia 9100M work until now. Installed the kext for Nvidia 9xxx included in the iPC installation but display lags. It had better performance when I removed the NVidia drivers. Still 1024x768 resolution but a bit faster.

I read about NVidia Zeph's installer, you could try that one.

I can't find anything related to that yet. Do I have to download another distro to get it?

Btw, how are you doing with your AspireMac?

I manage to install, but has to boot to account setup with an external usb mouse, so i'm thinking i'm not want to do this everytime i boot, besides i love my laptop touchpad, so...i wanna use it.

Right now this is the issues:
0. Need to update to 10.5.7(will try in a few seconds).
1. Graphics sucks.... only 1024x768.
2. No sound (thinking to use VoodooHDA)
3. No support for the touchpad (thinking to use VoodooPS2Controller)
4. No networks devices (no wired, nor wireless)
5. System profiler not showing hardware.
and ... that's all.

Any tips, choices, options, advises would be extremely appreciated.
