md5sum
An MD5Sum is a digital "fingerprint" that identifies a file. If you're download was no good then the hash wouldn't match. Most OS have MD5 check methods built in except windows. There is a concise walkthrough on the ubuntu.com page. Just search MD5. If you need a Windows based check, search for MD5Sum. Top result should be a link to Nullriver Software. There is a free simple checksum at that link.
Even if your check is good, you could still have a bad burn. I had this with my first install attempt and ended up being my burner. Even burning at the lowest speed resulted in errors. Assume there was something wrong with the calibration of the drive, but long story short, burn finished good, install failed, new drive, new burn, good install. Sorry I can't help you with you're VMWare problem. |

Successful installation...
I have a successful installation since the time of its release (iAtkos V7). This is the most stable distro I have tried. Works out of the box. You can check my sig for my rig. It's a 12" notebook, I mean the crappiest ever on China market.
It runs stable and I have updated to 10.5.8 thru Apple Software Update, it was painless. Been up and running for more than 6 months already, installed lots of apple software, and it's running quite well. Have done my dsdt patch already so I have removed some of the unnecessary kext. Sleep works well, got QE/CI. Upgraded the RAM, replaced the intel WLan to Broadcom 4311 to be more "airport compatible"(lots of these in my place at less than 10USD each), then next would be an SSD drive and a processor upgrade. Feels like "Mac", runs like "Mac". iAtkos V7, awesome distro for Leopard. Thumbs up to the team who made it possible. Hasee W230N iAtkos S3 v2 10.6.3 updated to 10.6.4 via Apple Software Update . Intel T8300 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo
Intel Mobile GM965 ICH8 . Intel X3100 . Atheros Ar9280 WiFi . Realtek RTL8101E . ALC 883 . Optiarc DVD+RW . KingSpec MLC SSD 32Gb SATA "Do I want a real Mac? Yes of course!!!" |
