worked once for me with my current system then i reformated with this distro i get a error about it missing a file at boot, i forgot the name but it has to do with what loads at the boot of the OS
question why so many kernals? why not have everyone make one "super" kernal, what is it politics? * Intel Core i7 920 * ASUS P6T LGA X58 * Mushkin DDR3(3x2GB) 1333 * Nvidia GTX280 * TRUE w/ Scythe "ULTRA KAZE" @ 3000 RPMS and AC MX-2 * Cooler Master Case 690 * Corsair 650TX * 2x Seagate 500GB Sata 32MB Cache(Raid 0) Last edited by ANTC; 01-16-2009 at 02:11 AM. |

Help on A8N-SLI
Hello,
I see your configuration is quite similar to mine. I am running a 2 years old lovely stable 10.4.8. At this point I need to change to leopard. I have been reading several forums last months and I selected finally this iPC 10.5.6 to upgrade my system. I am having some problems to boot for the first time. My question is do you recommend ipc or Leo4all for the A8N-SLI premium? My config is 2 GB Opteron 165 no overclocking and Nvidia 7600GS PCI-e (tried nvinkjet and natit) didn't worked no display detected. Thanks for your opinion in any case. Dragon |

Hy all,
I'm a noob in OSx86 and I'm trying for several days now to install ipc. Everything works fine with the install until the end when it needs to restart. after I click restart and the grey background and rotating circle appears, after a 20 seconds i get a Kernel panic and i have to push the reset button on my case. after restart i select -f string and the apple logo appears along with the rotating circle on grey and it just stands like that. i have also tried to start osx using -v -x strings and everything is loaded in v mode, a pale blue screen appears and then nothing. what can i do? my system specs are: AMD athlon 64 x2 4200+ 6 GB of RAM SATA II HDD ATI Radeon X1650 MSI K9N Neo mainboard with NVIDIA nForce 550 Chipset Please help i don't know what to do. thank you very much. |

if you get a pale - blue screen it`s probably something with graphics drivers. Have you chosen any of them during the installation ? Does it boot with -x alone or it shows the same ?

i have selected the ati x1600 drivers and when booting in -v -x mode it shows that he had found ati x1650 and it is ok. I'll try now only with the -x string to see what happens and I'll return to say if something changed.
later edit: I'm back. no change with just the -x string. i still get the blue pale screen. Last edited by tacapaca; 03-05-2009 at 10:54 PM. |

If the problem was the graphics kext it should be ok with -x but well...you can try booting with -s, mount the drive with "mount -uw /" command, then navigate to ./System/Library/Extensions/ and remove ATIinject.kext with "rm -rf ATIinject.kext", write "reboot" and boot with -f next time. If the problems lies in video drivers, it should fix it.
