iPhone 3GS not being recognized by iTunes 9.2

Hey again, guys. Having LOTS of trouble getting iTunes to recognize my iPhone 3GS running iOS4 (yuck). I had to delete the IOUSfamily.kext (or whatever) just to get it to charge via the computer (even though it charges and syncs fine in XP). I'd really hate to have to reinstall XP just to be able to sync my iPhone, when I know it's more than possible to get it done on a Hackintosh. I just haven't figured out how to, and no one has been able to help me thus far (topics on tonymac, InsanelyMac, Hackint0sh).

The iPhone IS recognized under USB in System Profiler.

Great. Now I'm stuck in recovery mode. I've been watching videos and reading tutorials on how to get out, and nothing. iTunes won't restore it either; error 1611.

iFuntastic, Recboot, etc. aren't taking it out. FML

edit: BTW, my iPhone is NOT jailbroken or anything like that. It's iOS4.

Also, iTunesMobileDevice.kext is not running, and I have reinstalled iTunes 9.2 three times. It is located in Extensions but not running. How do I force it to run?

Restoring from an Apple hardware Mac (granted it's an old MDD tower haha!). So... I'm going to have to reinstall Windows to be able to sync my iPhone. Now THAT is bass-ackwards!

Your best bet would be to install iTunes.

And if you get stuck in recovery, hold the power button and home button until it turns off then let go.

LONG DEAD TOPIC

The actual issue was that the P55 motherboard's BIOS needed updated. A long-known issue since the release of Windows 7 has been that iPhones have had issues with the P55 chipset, in all operating systems.
