Yesterday downloaded Zephyroth Leopard 10.5.2 release.
First tried default nvidia drivers from dvd. After fixing boot leopard started. Resolution was 1024x768. Cant start leo with 1680x1050.
Reinstalled without graphic drivers. Then installed NVInstallerV.33. After finishing install system stoped working, some times with shut down message others just hanged.
Rebooted and got kernel panic in GeForce.kext and NVDAResman.kext. Then booted in safe mod and got normal resolution: 1680x1050. Then fixed kexts leaving just my video card id (motherboard M2N-E with nForce 570 chipset). But nothing have changed. Can't boot in normal mode.
Same thing with my old one 7800GT video card.

When installed added option for nforce 5 support, no other drivers. Sound installed with own azalia drivers, have optional realtek network card, which works natively.

Here's how my 8600GTS shows in System Profiler:

Graphics by NVIDIA:

Chipset Model: Graphics by NVIDIA
Type: Display
Bus: PCIe
PCIe Lane Width: x16
VRAM (Total): 768 MB
Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de)
Device ID: 0x0400
Revision ID: 0x00a1
ROM Revision: NVinject 0.2.0
Displays:
Display Connector:
Status: No display connected
MP620p:
Resolution: 1024 x 768 @ 60 Hz
Depth: 32-bit Color
Core Image: Hardware Accelerated
Main Display: Yes
Mirror: Off
Online: Yes
Quartz Extreme: Supported
Rotation: Supported

You'll notice that the VRAM size is listed as 768MB.

My card actually only has 256MB... It the Installer, I didn't just choose NVInject 256. I also selected 512 and 768. I'm not 100% sure but I think it helped my video card work with full support "out of the box"... (the new nvidia's like to use system or "virtual" memory and report more available memory than they have physically on the card - I noticed that in Windows also...) Can't hurt to try...

Running both 10.5.8 and 10.6.4 on my stinking AMD/ATi machine...

strange.
my 8600gt is working perfect with full res and dvi dualscreen.
it shows right ram size, has same idīs than yours (just NVinject 0.2.0, not 0.2.1).
installed with nvidia drivers (inject? + 256mb kext)
maybe your monitor connection?

Tried both dvi connections, don't have difference.
One strange thing is that after driver installation os stops working.
I have done lots of tutorials, but not working correctly.
I had similar problem in 10.5.1 version...

if the OS quits working, your DEV ID is probably not in the kext. As this will cause OSX to lock up, it tries to initialize the new drivers as soon as the permissions are fixed on them.

My friend as much as i would like to tell you to search for topics like this already started im not an administrator or moderator neither i want it to be, but
do this...Type in Terminal:

sudo -s (after that put your password) you'll notice it will appear in root mode like this "bash-3.2#"
cd /system/library/extensions/ && chown -R root:wheel * && chmod -R 755 *
diskutil repairpermissions /
reboot

Tell me if that make a difference (supposing you have the correct NVinject and the Nvidia Installer already)
hope it helps
