Radeon 7500 Graphics card, please help!
Hi,
I have an IBM R50 with a ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 Graphics card. My computer recognizes the card, but it doesn't give me quartz extreme. When I go into system profiler under "Graphics/Display" This is what it says: __________________________________________________ _____________________________ Radeon Mobility 7500: Chipset Model: Radeon Mobility 7500 Type: Display Bus: AGP VRAM (Total): 32 MB Vendor: ATI (0x1002) Device ID: 0x4c57 Revision ID: 0x0000 Displays: Color LCD: Resolution: 1024 x 768 @ 60 Hz Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Software Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Not Supported __________________________________________________ ____________________________ If you could help me get QE working, that would me AMAZING! Please help me figure this out. :P Thanks a ton, -David |

I have the same issue with my Compaq N610C...the limited amount of memory may not allow you to run QE or CI. I am still working on trying to edit the drivers for this card in order to enable at least full resolution. You can however use OSX Tools to enable OpenGL, that will at least give you some relief. Now I do understand that the drivers for the ATI Mobility 9000 is very similar to this card and I am going to try to tweak the drivers for this card and add the card information into that in order to see if I can get it to work.
Good luck and I will keep you posted. Nope..looks like a no go. From what I am understanding you need a minimum of 64 MB of ram to enable QE/CI. Alas our old birds only have 32 and they are integrated cards, so no chance of upgrading the video. I guess we are both stuck with what we have. I am still working on getting full resolution capabilities, but that is proving to be a challenge in itself.

Thanks Imkantus....I have given the post a look see and I am going to give it a shot. If this does not work on my 7500, it may work on my 1650 that I still haven't got to work fully yet. Will keep you posted on the results.

I enabled Quartz GL using OSX Tools and that worked, but still no QE/CI, so I opened CallistoHAL.kext and edited the Device ID with my 7500's ID and repaired permissions and I will give that a shot and see if it helps. I read somewhere that I may have to remove AGPGart in order to allow QE to be enabled....it has something to do with AGPGart disabling QE on some cards. Will report back with either a working system with full resolution or a broken install that I will have to reinstall...lol..wish me luck.
UPDATE: Nope did not work, still no resolution or QE, still stuck at 1024 x 768 Oh well the only option I have now is to remove the AGPGart and see if that fixes the issue. UPDATE: No go...nothing changed even after removing AGPGart.kext. I guess I am just stuck with what I have, thanks again guys for the help, but I do believe I am beating a dead horse so to speak with this one. 💡 Deploy cloud instances seamlessly on DigitalOcean.
