What does this do if i may ask?
Is it a custom frame buffer for the proprietary ati drivers?

Hey Andy,

Just for my better understanding - when using your IOFramebuffer, could HD2000/3000 Series cards work with accerlated graphics (using X2000.kext) on Snow Leopard - ofcourse without working OpenCL Extensions?

Would be nice as I am still having some HD3850 lying around...

AMD Phenom II X4 955 - ASRock AM3A770DE - 8GB DDR3-1333 - Radeon HD 5570 1GB passiv - BCM4318 802.11b/g - Snow Leopard Retail
+++
AMD Phenom X3 8450 - ASRock AM2NF6G-VSTA (BIOS L2.39) - 4GB DDR2-800 - Radeon HD 4650 512MB - Snow Leopard Retail (retired) / OpenBSD

No, it is only and IOFramebuffer (not an IOAccelerator).
This will give you resolution support on older Radeons (X200, X300, X400, X500, X600, etc) but not latest cards (it's not a Radeon HD framebuffer)
