System Profiler Help

Hi everyone,

I need a little help. I am currently running intel platform using Chameleon 2 RC3. I use smbios.plist to set up values in system profiler. All is fine except the Processor Name missing. Could someone provide some guidance ?

P.S. I don't have any other smbios patches/enabler interfering with the chameleon bootloader and I am using stock applesmbios

Many thanks in advance.

I think thats normal, the smbios.plist doesnt inject the cpu, if it doesnt match some predefined type strings in one of the System Profiler plists it will show as Unknown but it should not affect anything apart from Silverlight Installer.
If you need that or it really bothers you take a look at this thread, but IMO its not worth the hassle...

Replace your boot file on the root of your HD with this one
Can't remember who modded it so I can't give them credit but this one identifies quads and newer core2duo's

I think this method is the same mentioned by thorazine74. Although not the ideal solution, but at least it is working now.

Thanks guys!!

Ok, so here is some extra info for those who are as anal as I am about the system profiler. The above mentioned method will allow system profiler identify your quad cpu as Quad-Core Intel Xeon. If you are still not satisfied, you can follow AquaMac's guide on how to modify the systemprofiler:

http://www.s155158671.websitehome.co...rofilermo.html

All you need to add this line to override the Xeon processor name displayed in system profiler. For my case, it would be:

"Quad-Core Intel Xeon" = "Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550";

Repair permission and then logout/reboot

should work after that.
