Booting screen - can we change it ?

Like in the topic - can we change the booting screen in leopard ? I mean this white screen with grey apple logo while the system is booting up. If we can change it - does anyone know how ?

with changed background color and reduced palette, it looks a little worse, but I still like this logo design.

definitely the new-age apple look to it. I'm thinking of trying this out on my macbook just for show. Thanks for the ideas.

i've always loved the rainbow apple logo. i used the one included with the sample photos. anything that i will conjure up in photoshop will be too big and probably fail

There is a modified version of chameleon that you can use to make custom boot screens with. I use it and it works wonderfully well.
