[Grub-dfe.iso] The one that boots the retail DVD!

This is the .iso that everyone want's.

Just download the .iso, burn to cd and boot up the computer with it.

When you get to the Darwin loader, eject the cd and insert the Retail DVD. When your DVD drive stop's blinking, hit escape and then hit enter a couple of time's. This will allow you to boot from the DVD.

After it boot's, install OS X!

Enjoy

Hi slinger2g,

Apparently you have created another account!
However, could you please credit the owner of the file or at least post a link to the source?

Thank you.

Kind Regards,

Hi,

You'll have to excuse me, but when I DL'd this from another thread, over at insanelymac, there was no credit given in that thread so I have no idea who had there hands on this one. And I don't frequent Insanelymac anymore. They don't like me because I wouldn't give them my source code for my EFI project. That's like asking a stranger to hand over his wallet. What do you think he's gonna say...........? And they weren't willing to give me a roll over there either, even if I did give up my code, so the feeling's are mutual.

Also, just for the record I never claimed credit for the EFI Partition method, I reserved info on it to give munky respect as I didn't know he was affiliated with this Forum. I don't know how you guy's are with the publicity of other forum's. Sorry, just a misunderstanding.

Can it also run custom kernels like the original boot 132 (the method monky has explained over at insanelymac?).

I don't think so. As the boot file isn't edited in the same fashion. However if you took the munky, turbo boot file it just might. Try that and post your results.

will this work on amd or only intel?
Obviouslly I won't have the drivers necessary for a pc
So isn't a distro with drivers included still better for most users?

Looks good anyway, apple should really just bite the bullet and make
Their os work on pc's.

Good luck

how is this any different from normal boot-132-dfe discs we've all been using for half a year?

how come you changed your name?

have you ever provided any proof of your EFI project actually working? other than hastily edited kextstat output of course...

and NO, putting the EFI partition bootloader on a CD isnt going to magically work, you need a bootloader specifically built for this type of operation, either dfe's original, or my updated version (supports JMicron ATA controllers and 'device-properties' strings), posted here:

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.p...00#entry923601

also, why the big deal about this iso in particular? why not allow people to build their own, via the excellent SlimBuild?

This is an image I DL'd and thought to share it with other's, just like the thread I DL'd it from. It's good to have around for noob's that something like slimbuild wouldn't work for, without them needing support in forum's where most of there question's wouldn't be answered because someone else already had the same problem.

This CD is ready to boot the Retail dvd without modification. So it's a good peace of mind for noobs.

Also, my EFI project code is sitting here on a thumb drive. All it need's is a UGA driver for graphic's boot, which I can prolly pull off my mac mini. But it isn't a concern as it still boot's OS X. It's UEFI based. I plan on putting a video of it on YouTube, so be patient!!!

Also, you can come up with all the thought's and slander you want, I will not release it until it is perfect. I'm that kinda guy. I don't do BETA releases!

P.S. By the way, the modified "cdboot" file you are using as boot-turbo-munky.bin does not boot the DVD with CD # option(90-9f or any other number sequence).
