@eddie11c,
Can you tell me is there anyway to install the 9.20 kernel without EFI cos EFI makes my Spec reboot without a sign? I notice PC reboot at the line "System/Library/Extensions.mkext" when hitting -v at the very beginning after inserllation of EFI. Thanx & Regards! Kael |

You will need EFI installed to use the new kernel unless someone has released a new version. EFI is not hard to install if you have an extra drive. I would suggest reading up on it.

Thanx for your reply!Yes I just followed wikidot.com's instructions and installed EFI by DVD's Terminal even by my Tiger an I have tried for more than 5 times --everytime I have to rebuild my Leopard,but the result is the same--automaticaly reboot upon Darwin loading (and the New DVD v2 show the same issue, I even can NOT boot from DVD...can you tell me what is the problem?

From looking here you need an SSE 2 kernel

mach_kernel 9.0.0 SSE2/SSE3 is installed if you don't select any kernel during installation.

oups ... It seems I'm tired ... the kernel in DVD is mach_kernel 9.0.0 which is SSE2/SSE3 so I'm wondering if it's related to the kernel.

@eddie11c and Zephyroth,
Really thanx for all your replise! So, if it related to the kernel in the v2 DVD,is it possible to create a new iso by replacing the kernel in the v2 DVD with the kernel from the DVD v1(Yes,DVD 10.5.1 really works perfectly on my machine)to fit Sempron--I heard the same issue from splinter182 (http://osx.kbot.de/comments.php?DiscussionID=377&page=1#Item_10)and Althon(http://osx.kbot.de/comments.php?DiscussionID=360&page=1#Item_4)?And how?By Ultra ISO? Thanx & Regards!! Kael |

From windows this can be done with Ultra ISO, once you open the ISO in the program you can right click and choose to show the HFS information. Then simply drag the new kernel there and burn the ISO. Don't save it as this will mess up the ISO.

... if I don't make a mistake the kernel in 10.5.1 dvd is 9.1.0 ...
