This is certainly a beginner question, even though I've been lurking and reading since December.

Ok, what I want to do is install 10.5.2 on a different partition than XP64, with XP being the default boot. So far, here's what I've done:

- Create 2nd partition, make it active with DISKPART in XP (but not the "create partition id=af" tag that I've seen in some places)
- Install 10.5.2 with MBR, VIA, AC97, NFORCE, NVIDIA . . . after reformatting to Mac OS Journaled

Each time, it installs correctly (I think) and gets the reboot stage. BUT!!! I can't boot into OSX to complete the installation. It either jumps straight to XP, or when I boot from the DVD, begins the installation process again (Both actually booting from the DVD and using the DVD bootloader).

What have I missed? Thanks.

Try setting the partition active with fdisk. Load the DVD back up and type this in terminal.
replace X and Y with your disk/partition info.
Code:
 fdisk -e /dev/rdiskXsY
update
f Y

Thanks - I'll try that when I get home today. Now I'm wondering - what is about the Diskpart utility that doesn't accept partition activation, but the Mac one will?

Is it possible to get ICH7 (full HDA) with alc880 chipset?
Some forums I looked for claimed it is possible but I couldn't do it.
It is the only thing I got not working

If you setup audio EFI you should be able to.

Ok...help me if you can...i just injected the kext for ATI SB600 southbridge SATA drivers and now on dvd boot up it hangs at the gray/black screen with a mouse cursor. I'm not sure if this is because of a kext issue or what but any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

thanks but I always use -v when I install-makes me feel like it is actually doing something other than spinning an icon .
No this happens after that all loads. I think it is trying to load the main intall GUI but it just stops when the cursor loads in the upper left corner. I can move the cursor but nothing happens.
