How To build Own MAC OSX Distro?

Hello, everyone.

I am thinking to create my distro.
and I am little bit confused from reading some documents. because of this , I need to ask you.

I have running OSX box. and I have OSX retail DVD in this case, How Can I create new Distro which is running on OSX86.

for my distro , I am thinking to create General Driver Support Distro; this means that I will not include ATI or Nvidia Drivers to DVD mkext in other words, I will not put all driver to default loading drivers.

Why I am doing this, because I read that some drivers conflicts each other and because of this , sometimes people can not pass the initial step for setup.

For example, some nvidia drivers can cause conflict to ethernet driver and because of this some people stuck at black screen

in this case , I want to create Distro which is working stable and not conflicted driver but It should solve the BIOS, chipset problems and general problems.
for example , ATI IXP SB700 support.

As a result of this, my distro will come basic driver support , for Video , it will get VESA mode than people can use necessary kext for themselves.

now , I am waiting distro tutorials and ideas related to problem and kexts to solve common problems related to hardware and OSX problem and to create stable Distro.

Thanks for help!

First I would point you over to PCWIZ and his site with his new cover app that utilizes STVLNUB's shell script with a nice GUI front end. This will be a very useful tool to at least get started.

If you have just a little bit of patience, the new chameleon and voodoo kernel will be released. You'll be able to install from a retail dvd on your amd system and you won't need to build a new distro.

I agree. We really don't need to have a whole bunch of separate distros floating around but I like you're spirit. The need for these new distros will disappear (except for those people still not willing to dish out some dough to buy retail) when this new kernel comes out.

I purchased Leopard when it first came out for my Macbook and I'll be buying a new one soon to incorporate the new nVidia chipset to be used in the new systems... hopefully it will also spill some light on getting the nForce boards working with writable SATA support.

Another approach you can try is an "AMD Live" DVD. I've been working on making mine better to be used as a recovery disk so people can use the Finder, etc. I've got only the basics supported right now on the DVD with much the same thought you put in your idea for a new distro. The problem is that I need to cut so much out to make it all fit that I would have to make separate versions for different Language support. I'm hoping to get it working with the new voodoo kernel soon too so it can all be right from a native (slimmed-down) install and thus will be able to run on both AMD and Intel.

But thats just my two cents on the topic. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Kind of Off topic: i have seen a couple of place people mention that the voodoo kernel will let amd users have the same benifites as intel does that include 64 bit support?

if you don't feel like answering because it's off topic no hard feelings.
