iATKOS 7 Strangeness after Successful Install

I installed iATKOS 7 on my HP Pavillion dv7-2177

Intel Core 2 Duo Processor P7750 2.26GHz
4096MB DDR2 System Memory
500GB (5400RPM) Hard Drive (SATA) with 190GB for OSx86
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650

The install was successful, and I used the Chameleon2 loader, which worked just fine. I booted up and got to the apple screen with the spinning wheel, then the screen went black and some dance music started playing. The screen is still black and the music stopped and thats all I have.

First search about your graphic card shows it doesn´t work under leo. Anyway try to boot with -x flag.

No need!!

You just need to delete nvdresman.kext from System/Library/Extensions

I am not a terminal ninja, so do a search on that kext, sure it will pop up

Better if you have another Leo install, quicker.

The music is your welcome screen of first boot, you lucky dog! heheh

hold on... hehehe

No KP's, just that kext that messes with nvidia resolutions and switches the screen to the output device. If you have an extra screen around you can hook it up, create login, navigate to folder, delete kext, repair permissions, and reboot!

I would back it up, just in case.. lol.. but dont fear - DO IT !

EDIT: Just noticed you dont have nvidia card. But the symptom is sooooooo similar, I bet its that kext doing the funk. Try it out, it wont corrupt you install, and its an NVIDIA kext anyways, so it shouldn't even be doing anything - safe to delete

I don't know which kext module might be responsible for that problem, but it may give you access to your system if you attach an external display...

Did you select any Enabler / Efi String or something under customize during the install?

I did not try an external monitor, but I ended up giving up on it and did a system restore...I might try again some time.

Try this

Don't give up yet

I recently installed that version on my hp dv7-2185dx and I also have an ATI HD4650

I assume when you installed iAtkos7 you chose the ATI HD kext in the customize menu?

If so that is why your screen is going black, and unfortunetly once you install that kext, even if you boot with -x it still loads the extension so the screen will always be black.

So, just install it and do not choose a vga kext. This will at least let you use the OS, and with the graphics mode boot option I think you should be able to increase the screen resolution.
