Your system is easy as you've got a Core2Duo you should be able to use the vanilla kernel, so you can just use the common update guides like the ones posted on ihackintosh blog:
10.5.5 - 10.5.6 - 10.5.7 - 10.5.8

PS. You can "fake" your OS X Version by editing /System/Library/Coreservices/SystemVersion.plist this will make you able to run latest iLife, iWork & Co even on lower versions.
