I don't need PPC Support, but I wonder why it doesn't work anymore!
This is the only small error that I recently experienced, everything else works great! Intel/Universal Applications work perfectly. :-) |

But Rosetta is a system implementation, it has to work. Some programs still need PPC support, even as Universal Binary. Is Photoshop CS3 working? The most Adobe programs can't be slimmed with Xslimmer, so the PPC part is maybe neccessary for them. A lot of Games, VST instruments or Audio Units are still PPC.
Have you noticed that Kalyway made graphical changes in the system? I hate something like this. @ bhast2: At the first time I tested with the second patch the system wasn't working at all. Well I've just installed Kalyways and I'm having dramas with AHCI. Without AHCI enabled in Bios I'd be stuck with "root device" loop. But with AHCI my drives seem to be very slow. I've copied the IOATAFamliy.kext from my Zeph install and it now boots in Native IDE(only in verbose however), but it still seems to be a little slow. Any ideas or suggestions?

Nevermind,
My biggest problem was not having the SB600ATA kexts. Patched the DVD. And I can honestly say it's been the smoothest most stable install I've done, (and a hell of a lot quicker too!) Cheers Kalyway, now I can enjoy this machine as opposed to the thoughts of beating it to death with the keyboard!! I install just fine, but I can't seem to boot at all. So far I get a kernel panic with speedtestkernel, modbinkernel doesn't seem to work, and the sleepkernel has IOATA Error that keeps popping up. Either way I am having problems getting into the OS.. Also I have to boot with -x to boot off the DVD and be able to get anywhere past Choose Your Language screen.

Got it working! Apparently all I needed was good nights sleep and I got it all sorted. Couple problems though, Restart doesn't work all the way (using the SleepKernel) I get to where the screen blacks out right before the BIOS screen pops up, and it stops, so I have to hit the reset button every time. It doesn't follow through all the way. Second is About this Mac doesn't work, it crashes Finder or something. I installed AppleSMBIOS-27-Default. DVD Player works though.
GUID, and Sleep works now too, which hasn't in any I've tried yet, so I am happy Overall I am pretty happy with this release, it seems pretty solid and fast. Any suggestions? 💡 Deploy cloud instances seamlessly on DigitalOcean. Free credits ($100) for InfMac readers. |
