Enable AHCI in the BIOS for your SATA drives. What southbridge does your MB use? Is it an SB600 or SB700 (like my 780G motherboards...) I have OSx86 running on 2 780G machines - 1 with a Phenom, 1 with an A64 X2.
I doubt that your video card will have anything but VESA support. Running both 10.5.8 and 10.6.4 on my stinking AMD/ATi machine... |

Hey Guys,
This week I installed LawlessPPCPhenomLeo (10.5.4) and when I run ASU to upgrade to 10.5.5 it gets stuck in "Detecting cpuids for MacOSXUpd 10.5.5.pkg". I even let it alone for a couple of hours in this state to see if it works eventually, but didn't. If anyone knows what's happening here I will appreciate your help! Also updated with ASU to iTunes 8 and Quicktime 7.5.5. iTunes works fine, but everytime I try to open a video file quicktime crashes. If I open it from the app folder it opens well, but as soon as I drag a file to it crashes again.
Any clues? ![]() AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Black Edition Asus M3A Motherboard - AMD 770 Chipset / SB600 Asus Geforce 8800GT 2 x 1 GB DDR2 800 Supertalent Western Digital 500GB AAKS - Leopard/Xp/Data Dual Boot Partitions LG GSA-H55N DVD-RAM LG GSA-4160B DVD-RAM Antec TruePower Trio 550 - 550 Watt PSU ![]() |

All running fine after:
ATI3870: DVD drivers did not work, removed kexts and installed lastexiles drivers. IDE HHD / SB600 chipset: This is the only distro allowing me to boot with my sb600 setup. But after installing the gfx driver, my hdd becomes really slow, so i had to install different sb600 drivers. Leopard 10.6.5 | Core i3 | Gigabyte H55M-USB3 | ATI 5770 | Coolermaster Cosmos |

hello, just got my copy of LawlessPPC dvd, pop it , and i got this error of : still waiting for root device..
it's about my HDD right ? this is my system : AMD Athlon X2 BE 5000 J&W RS780UVD-AM2+ (780G chipset) http://www.jwele.com/motherboard_detail.php?225 (with SB700) 1x WDC 320gb SATA II 1x SEAGATE 250GB IDE 1x LG DVDRW IDE Geforce 9600GSO 384MB i tried with 1 HD frst (the sata one) , trying AHCI & Native IDE but still got "still waiting for root device" then i tried with only IDE HD but still got the same error is there any exception for DVDRW & my IDE HD on the same cable ? or should i use my SATA HD for better performance? yes, i've tried with -x , but still no luck. at first i thought it was a USB error, because the last message was : "AppleUSBOHCI ... bla bla bla ... OHCI controller will be unloaded across sleep" but then comes along "still waiting for root device" any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks Last edited by gnuga; 10-06-2008 at 09:16 PM. |

oky. it seems that my SB700 is the problem (lawlessppc didn;t have sb700 driver i guess) but i found this sb700kext http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=126273
*edited* okay imanaged to inject the file using TransMac .. unfortunetelly sata didn;t work for me , so i go IDE instead. voila! installer showed up. everything installs just fine .. took about 20-30 mins at least. reboot and there;s this error Grey Circle with line (how to describe that?) on top of grey apple logo. the spinning circle keeps spinneing and nothing happens .. using -v at boot it reintroduced me to still waiting for root device ... eh? i thought the installer worked just fine ? what's wrong? ... Coool! with transmac, injecting sb700 chipset has never been easier, (why didn;t i look at that place first??)
anyway, progress so far with LawlessPPC: SB700 ok, Processors recognized dual core, HD ide recognized, DVD rom recognized, USB full speed -- 9600GSO still working as software no QE no CE, SATA HD not recognized but i will look for more! thanks ! 💡 Deploy cloud instances seamlessly on DigitalOcean.
