[cite] WinLinMac01:[/cite]Glad to hear everything is working for you and met your expectations megaargon!!! now please be considerate and help others that may be having problems with their installation since your experience I would say was perfect. I know you have patiently waited for the release and thank you for being so! We thought you went to Linux for some comfort or you were not so happy with the progress of this release timeframe, LOL, just kidding. Enjoy the release and don't hesitate to post any issues.

We will be more than happy to hear from you in the long run. Remember this is a family, a community for all that is are AMD-types. Let's all sustain positive relationships with one another as acquaintances and remain as a whole, and keep our ears and eyes open for Zephyroth, God of the AMD MAC.

[cite] megaargon:[/cite]Whew...install went on without any problems. Thank you so much Zeph. I was partying too much until I nearly crashed my other system, Windows Vista. very happy for this release and I remain optimistic throughout its lifespan. Love everything! I read what other people commented about me, don't really mind, since I know, I was too anxious for this update. We all have our different moods. I was feeling way overexcited. Anyway, back to work, and great that I have cherished this long-awaiting this release throughout the day.

Ok, got my 6800GS fully working. I installed the latest NVinject, then I proceeded to install Zephs Universal NVidia Installer, clicked only the new kexts, not the NVinject in the installer (note - I installed the latest NVinject already via terminal) then when it was all installed I went in the extensions folder added my dev id to the info.plist files, repaired permissions etc.. rebooted, applied the cpuid-graphics patcher, rebooted and boom! Everything works!!!

Ok I just finished installing and my testing.

conclusion was I couldn't boot from guid partition because the first disk always read rdisk0s2
And sofar The only way to make the first partition read as rdisk0s1 was to use mbr. at least It still has efi installed.

Maybe somebody can work out the guid install and post it.

I also noticed that during -s when booting from disk you couldn't use sudo, su or passwd .

but i found a NEAT trick, as the install on disk is in its last minute get ready for the countdown to off, as it counts down click the utilities and terminal. an now you can do you fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 ........... and set the boot partition as active.

I also tried the AppleUpdateDone touch, but it didn't seem to work, as I still had to passwd change and su.

one major flaw is my 3800x2 only has one core in system view, im not sure if it's the 9.2 or just a flag for stability, but I think when I workout where the cpu=1 is hiding it will go back to normal.

Also Need another few fixes will prob try to load with -s on first boot next time and see if I can get around the passwd setting, and remain as root, using the TOUCH .......AppleUpdateDone.

So good luck im sure in mbr mode most should have no troubles.

If the mod could start a thread about using guid partitioning and make it a sticky we may work it out faster. It seems to have worked for some.

[cite] WinLinMac01:[/cite]@cgsheen, are you able to see an option for making the menu bar translucent or not? Last question: I was forced to name my volume with only one word. However, in the O/S environment, I changed the name and put it back to Macintosh HD. Was this a safe thing I did?
Ya, the "check box" for "Translucent Menu Bar" is there in the "Desktop & Screen Saver" options menu in System Preferences.

I don't know how you could use both the 9.1.0 and 9.2.0 kernels... That's the guts of the whole system - everything else is built on that. You choose one of the kernels (NOT choosing 9.1 or 9.2 loads the 9.0.0 SSE2/SSE3 kernel...)

I don't know about re-naming the partition. Mine are always short and simple...

EDIT:
I've got this working well on my "2nd Zephyroth" machine - still using an external HD - specs:

2nd of 3 working installs:
Zephyroth 10.5.2 - MBR + EFI - 9.2.0
MB: Gigabyte GA-K8N51GMF-9 - nForce 6100/430 (I/O Winbond W86327) Socket 939
CPU: Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+
Drives: 2 SATA, IDE DVD burner - Boots OSx86 from external USB, Firewire drives work
Video: Gigabyte 8600GTS 256MB PCIe ( supported natively - QE/CI )
LAN: Airlink101 AWLL3026 802.11g USB (ZyDas software for 10.4.x) onboard RTL8201 disabled
USB: 1.0 & 2.0 (supported natively & working properly)
Firewire: Onboard VIA VT6307 IEEE1394 controller (supported natively)
Audio: Onboard Realtek ALC880 - ANALOG AND DIGITAL (S/PDIF) working with AppleHDA "beta4some861_880Installer"

Toast 8.0.3 - working
MS Home & Student 2008 - working
GarageBand - needs Marvin...
Transmission 1.05 - working
Time Machine, iTunes, QuickTime, Front Row, all the built-in apps I've tried - working

This is running nice...

Running both 10.5.8 and 10.6.4 on my stinking AMD/ATi machine...

I have installed Zephiroth 10.5.2 yesterday evening, all went well just OOTB, except for some little issue:

- I had to replace graphics kext with the ones I backed up from 10.5.1 because of some graphics artifacts on 8800GT 512MB, now System Profiler reports 771MB video RAM as in 10.5.1 but everything works very well now. The only edit I made in that kexts was adding the values for 512MB in NVinject.kext manually (it is the 0.2.1 version of NVinject)

- System Profiler reports only one core (like I am using cpus=1 flag at boot), but the system seems more responsive, like when I was using two cores without LAN on 10.5.1... need to investigate more on this...

- I also migrated my settings and apps from the previus install because now I have installed on my SATA drive without deleting the old installation on my PATA

My specs:
OS X: Leopard 10.5.2 R1 by Zephyroth
Board: ASUS A8N SLI
Memory: 2GB Kingston HyperX (4x512)
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
Graphic: GeForce 8800 GT 512 (now working with NVInject 0.2.1/10.5.2 kext also QE/CI)
Integrated Audio: Realtek ALC850
HD1: WDC WD800BB-00CAA1, 80 GB with older 10.5.1
HD2: SATA, 125 GB with new 10.5.2
HD3: SATA, 125 GB
HD3: External Firewire, 250 GB

My install options:
Kernel 9.2.0, EFI, MBR, Forcedeth.kext, NVidia+NVinject, AC97 Audio
