Anyone has been able to fix the Still waiting for root device error? I've read somewhere i should try ide, but i don't have ide on my motherboard
I know the kext works with the DVD because i got it working 2/3 times myself with my own 10.5.1 DVD with the kext injected into the DVD, but i cant remember what 'special' thing i did to get it past the error, hope there is a other solution

Mac Inspiron 531 » 10.6.8 • 10.8.0 Legacy Kernel • AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ (2.60GHz)

ALC888 • nVidia GeForce 8600 GT 256 MB
2 x WDC WD5000AAKS 500 GB SATA HDD

[cite] macprodan:[/cite]AnyThing I can Do, Does MBR work any better for other Users, which group has had the most success ?
YAAA! I fought with a GUID + EFI install for a couple of hours, then re-partitioned MBR + EFI and stinking 10.5.2 installed without a single hitch. Even my 8600GTS was fully supported ootb! I even made it through "account creation" without a working LAN Adapter. The only things I had to do after the install were: ALC880 (which I always have to do) and I'm now using a USB wireless LAN adapter (which I knew I'd have to install the software for...)

Once I switched to MBR, it was the easiest install EVER...

Running both 10.5.8 and 10.6.4 on my stinking AMD/ATi machine...

Working now I typed the commands again. I did not type them wrong last time, as I got error messages not related to them being inputed wrong. Mmmmm strange.

Thats a Lesson to everyone, Try and Try and Try again.. must have done about 12 installs at least. Thank for you patience Guys and Gals. I am gonna set up the Account now. I will report back how it goes.
