Question Newbie needs help!

Hi Guys!

I have a Core2 Quad system (Q6600) with an Intel motherboard, 2gb of RAM, NVidia 9600GT, 400gb of harddisk, running Ubuntu Linux. I want to install OS X alongside my Linux.

I'm currently downloading iAtkos v5i, but I'm lost on the installation instructions. What should I do to install OS X, with system updates and all, alongside Ubuntu, without losing my data and as vanilla as possible?

Thanks for everything,

TheShadow.

Hello and welcome to Infinitemac,

You just missed to tell us your Intel's mobo exact model number.. it is very important to know. The rest is all fine and you'll be able to run osx just great.

Regards

What about installing it alongside Ubuntu? Any tips?

Should I be worried about EFI x Grub? Do I need to change the partition type? What about when Apple issues an update?

Cheers,

TheShadow.

i use Archlinux with MacOSX and i thought u has to install MacOSX and the reinstall grub and use a file called boot_v8, which i think is pc_efi v8.

i placed that file on /boot/ and write this on menu.lst
Code:
title Mac OSX Leopard
kernel (hd0,x)/boot/boot_v8
where x is your root partition from linux.

CPU: Intel Pentium Dual E2140 1.6 GHz. Graphics: Intel(R) 82945G (128 MB). Board: Asus P5GC-TVM/S Chipset: Intel Lakeport-G i945GC. HDD: 232 Gb S-ATA Samsung
Version 10.6.2 32bit. Kernel: Vanilla. Audio: VoodooHDA 0.2.2 with prefpane. Video: Stock GMA. PS2 fix: VoodooPS2
USB 2 not working

Acer Aspire 4530-6823
CPU: AMD Athlon™ X2 QL-62 2.0GHz. Graphics: Integrated GeForce® 9100M G. Chipset: nForce® MCP77MH.
