[Please Help] ipc 10.5.6 FINAL installed.. but hangs :(
Hello everyone!
I have installed IPC 10.5.6 Final Universal on my HP pavillion 854n (old school) computer. install seemed to go well, and i beleive i have picked the best/needed drivers but could be wrong.. sorry, Im a bit noob :/ The issue i am having is after install, I boot -f -v and eventually I can here the music begin playing and then the guy talk about the voice command or whatever, however all I see is a black screen with a bunch of white typing..(sorry so noob) and it seems to just hang there.. any suggestions or ideas would be great! I am using the voodoo kernal- I have a 2.53 pentium 4 (sse2?) I grabbed the legacy geforce drivers- Geforce MX440 128mb (weak I know..) Intel ichx SATA driver I applied the seatbelt.kext (which i dont know if that is nec. but saw it in a post) Please let me know if i am missing any crucial patches or have made any mistakes... I am just dying to get this working, so I would greatly appreciate any help that you can give! Thanks in advance guys!! -Chase |

I believe it loaded, but display driver is off
Try what you did before, but leave out any display driver. You can correct the driver after the fact, so long as choosing no driver will give you some display to work with. (there is probably a slick command line way to fix this, but I am fairly new also and don't know how, but I have the hang of a couple distros.) As an alternative, try these options. This will use a vanilla kernel and will use PC EFI v9, which pretty much everyone should be shooting for. (if successful, it allows you to use Software Update without breaking your system!!!) I got it on mine. It's sweet!

I use mac kybd so I left it off) DSDT Patch DSDT AppleSMBIOS Patch AppleSMBIOSResolver Applications load all, check top level item which will select all underneath Intel DG43NB, ICH10, Ethernet Intel 82567V, Audio Realtek ALC888VC, nVidia 9400 GT, Core 2 Quad Q8200 2.33 GHz, 4GB, SATA WD 500GB, DVD Sony DRU-865S EFI v9 courtesy iPC OSx86 10.5.6 - Updates via Software Update! God made man knowing his new creation would not live up to Gods' own standards, so God gave him a loophole, ignorance. Now man can exist in their imperfect state and God won't have to squish him. So, if I am ignorant at times, chill. God made me that way. Last edited by HappyQuadCore; 05-05-2009 at 05:18 AM. |

have you tried safe mode, type -x at the prompt. If you can get into safe mode maybe you can correct the issue from there if it's a driver problem.
