i use know zaphys 10.5.1 and if i deactivate firewire from bios just like you said ,it comes this error massage: BSD root: disk0s3, major14, minor 2 syncing disks... killing all processes and then it reboots again does that mean that sata drives are not supportet? i dont know how to alter the install dvd to get sata to work please can anybody help me? hey zephyrot? can you make an bootable osx version wich supports booting with sata and phenom amd prozessors? i have an solution for those who can programm such things.... why not integrate the most common drivers for hdd and prozessors and all drivers to one amd install leopard dvd? i mean that not everybody can programm and do it . it could be even a dvd +dl with 8,5 gb if it dont fit in a 4,7 gb dvd. i think that would be the only solution to work on every hardware device... |

... Available drivers are not working on every hardware they are supposed to support ...
So there's no solution to make a dvd to work on every hardware device. Mac OS X 10.6.3 • 2.8 GHz Intel Core I7 860 • ASUS P7P55D • 2 GB 2 Ghz DDR3 • ATI RADEON XFX 4890 1GB • 2 x Hitachi 160 GB Serial-ATA • PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-112 • LaCie Desktop Harddrive 750 GB USB |

did you ever answer whether or not you have a ide/sata-to-usb adapter? This was always the problem for me (even though I have a different chipset and processor) until I got an adapter so I could install to the (now external) HDD and then fix the kexts in OSX to make it so I didn't need the adapter. ![]() |

heres a quick comparison with the native drivers (already on 10.5.1 DVD) on my motherboard (SB600 Chipset) it took well over an hour to install, thats to an ide hardrive. On the same drive on usb it took about 30 mins. This then allowed me to use kext helper to install the sata/pata drivers and try it in my machine. It was spot on I could then patch the iso from with in osx using disk utility to include the sata/pata drivers. Then boot dvd with -f -v and do an install in no time at all about 20 mins if that but with the sata drive in the machine. The one golden rule i found about OSX is that if you ever have a problem booting 9 times out of 10 if you canb connect that drive with a usb adapter you will be able to boot it and make changes whilst inside OSX. Heres a link to what i use http://www.sharkoon.de/html/produkte/externe_gehaeuse/drive_link/index_en.html will handle sata drives and 3.5" ide and 2.5" ide drives worth every penny (I use it for alot of computer work). It has saved me alot of head ache this time and I wish the first install I did on an NForce4 board I thought to use it then would have saved a lot of messing. I think the golden rule is USB on make if pretty buullet proof but dont quote me.
