Windows won't boot anymore!
Halp! :P
I just installed iatkos v7 on my pc on a 2nd partition. Installation went without a hitch! (in fact, I'm typing this message in OSX) Booted into OSX without a single error or KP. But now I can't boot into Windows anymore. When I select it in Chameleon, the startup fails and the error says Windows can't load because the device is already in use, or something like that. I try using "Repair" with the Windows CD to no avail. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you. EDIT: I should add that in OSX, I can see my Windows partition as well as access any of the files within. Last edited by adnbek; 11-28-2009 at 02:19 PM. |

If you are running Vista or Se7en:
There are ways to restore the Windows MBR. I don't know how-to exactly - I am not into windows. google for it.^^ Then use my advice here to add OSx86 to the windows bootloader. AMD Phenom II X4 955 - ASRock AM3A770DE - 8GB DDR3-1333 - Radeon HD 5570 1GB passiv - BCM4318 802.11b/g - Snow Leopard Retail
+++ AMD Phenom X3 8450 - ASRock AM2NF6G-VSTA (BIOS L2.39) - 4GB DDR2-800 - Radeon HD 4650 512MB - Snow Leopard Retail (retired) / OpenBSD |

The exact error I get when trying to boot Windows 7 is "Boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible". UPDATE: Got it working now. Before I could follow your instructions above, I figured out why I was getting that error. Trying to fix the boot manager didn't work because WIndows couldn't repair a volume it couldn't find or access. So I did some tinkering and thought I'd try the command line "Diskpart" utility (on the Windows disk) and make the Windows volume "active" (either OSX or Chameleon take away its active status strangely). After I fixed that issue, Windows booted fine but now without chameleon. I then followed your instructions with regards to using EasyBCD and now I can dual boot perfectly. Both OSes working like a charm now. So thanks buddy, I appreciate it. Couldn't have done the last part without you. Last edited by adnbek; 11-28-2009 at 09:11 PM. |
