I have the lastest bios (fhb) for this motherboard. And I don't use sata drive (disable in bios) I disabled serie, paralell, firewire, second ide and connect hd as master and dvd as slave, but it's doesn't boot. I wonder if it's not a kernel problem. I tried -s and then load all kexts (kextload /System/Library/Extensions/* and all modules were loaded perfectly and no paci/sigsegv... thanks for your help (roisoft and the others) |

For those with sleep problems, try this:
Open a Terminal window... to check which mode is active, type in pmset -g | grep hibernatemode 0=old style sleep, 3=new (save to disk style sleep) ============================== to change mode, type in sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0 (for old style) or sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 3 (for new style) ============================== Hope this all makes sense! |

Here's my thing;
- Installed rev2 over a working rev1... couldn't boot without the install disc. Tried various things, nothing worked, so I Erased the OSX partition and installed Rev2 fresh. Same issue... Not sure what's wrong, but i'm not even seeing darwin now. I tried the recommend fix here (http://osx86.wikidot.com/how-to-s#toc5) but that didn't seem to fix it. I'm using MBR anyhow... ASUS A8N-E NForce4 PATA OSX Drive Worked with Rev1, but now I can't seem to get Rev2 to boot without the disc. Any / All help is very much appreciated! |

Here's my problem. I have M2N4-SLI mobo with AMD 64X2 5200+, 2 GB RAM, Nvidia 7600, etc. All worked and still work perfectly except lan!
In all versions i have tested: 10.4.10, 10.5.1, 10.5.2 rev.1, 10.5.2, rev.2 i have never found a detailed working!! solution for making this lan stuff work in my mobo M2N4-SLI (using forcedeth of course). Any help would be extremely appreciated. I have even tried to modify the kext; when i tried to insert the device id into the kext i saw that it was already there so there is nothing i can do to fix it. I cannot even buy a cheap pci ethernet card cause all my pci slots(which are only two) in this silly mobo are filled.. Another problem that i found after installing zephyroth's 10.5.2 rev.2 is that when i press restart or shutdown it hangs for about 30-50 seconds (after pressing the " restart or shutdown" button that counts down).. In rev.1 reboot and shutdown was immediate.. Any tips of how i may fix this?? |

@trovardo
I too am facing this LAN problem - I have a Via mobo with an AMD 64X2 processor. Unfortunately I have not found any solutions to this problem as yet. Using an external PCI card have marginally improved the situation but I am still getting network drops using the latest drivers/kernels. I have used the following cards: RTL8139C - Worked with CPUS=1, with Apple Stock Driver, worked intermittently using the PCGen driver using both cores RTL8139D - Did not work - found no way of getting this to work D-Link 530 TX - Works using the Rhine driver from pinxue, perfectly with one core, intermittently with both cores I have also noticed that using two cores has slowed my iphone syncing/itunes generally - therefore there is some dual core issue here too. Insanelymac comments on this being some sort of buffering problem within the kernel - which I think is probably true and changing drivers has had minimal improvement. Additionally playing with PCI settings has had little effect apart from delayed transaction setting - which is having an impact on UDP sessions.... I think this is a core problem with AMD CPUs on particular motherboards - nForce and VIA chipsets being affected... apart from using cpus=1 setting, which wastes a whole core, I have not come up with any proven method to improve the situation... maybe others have? So in conclusion I am still using the CPUS=1 setting to get a stable system - but need to find a solution - otherwise may have to give up and buy apple hardware... |
