Can't change volume via Menu Bar or Keyboard.

I got a USB soundcard since mine was incompatible. On 10.5.6 it worked perfectly fine, it was just plug in and play. Now, whenever I try to change the volume with either me keyboard or in the menu bar it won't let me. I have to manually go into system preferences/sound/change the output volume.

I have no idea whats up with this?

Wow...I'm sorry. It's been forever since I've been on here that I already forgot to search *face palm*

Thank you, sorry for posting a pointless thread.

EDIT: I followed that tutorial and it didn't fix my problem. I still cannot change the volume up or down...

Well that's all I know about that problem, sorry. Do you see any error message in the console while booting or when changing volume?

There aren't any error messages nor when I change the volume =/

I followed all the steps to the guide and it showed that it overwrote the old files and whatnot.

Do you know the reason it wouldn't be letting me change the volume? (not how to fix it but why the problem would occur)
