help installing snow leopard

i have made the bootable sl usb stick but after i boot it and go to the installation there are any disks i can select only the usb stick

my hd drive is WD SATA

any sugestions?

Click the "tools" (I think) bar on the menubar. Click Disk Utilities, and format your HD to HFS+

Then choose the HDD.

the problem is that i cant see any drive to format
i can only see the usb stick
any idea?

How did you make the bootable stick? You probably missed to include the necessary kexts that support your SATA controller, if its not supported by OS X you definitely need to do that to see any disks.

hi i put all driver kextes in extra/extension but it still not working the ony drive i can see is the usb stick
has sombody the same problem

Rebel6... please read my SL tutorial, it has many answer to your questions.

For instance, are you on a laptop? If so, DO NOT use Western Digital drives. Apple had major issues with them in real macbooks, I found out the hard way because I bought one and after 20 million attempts, the disk failed. Swapped for a Seagate and installed the first go.

Also another forum member reported the exact same thing!

In Snow Leo, after installing kext to EITHER E/E or S/L/E you must run Kext Utilities and the Repair Permissions

The first thing I'd do is find out what sata chipset (maker & model and device id if posible) you have there, then you can find out which exact kext you need, if there's one available.
