Who succeeded in installing 10a432 without AHCI Mode ?

Hi.

I am using P5K, 8600gt, e6750, and I used 10a222 with SATA Mode - Enhanced about 6 months age.
After I Installed 10a432 and when I booted, I always saw the following error message.
------------
Darwin/x86 boot v5.0.132 - Chameleon v1.0.12
Build data : 2008-11-16 17:37:29
2047MB memory
VESA v 3.0 14MB (NVIDIA)
Loading Darwin/x86
Loading kernel mach_kernel
Loading HFS file : [mach_kernel]from 42302f0
Loading HFS file : [mach_kernel]from 42302f0
( Kernel overflows available space. )
--------------

[ boot flag => -v -f -x, -v -f -x32, -v -f -x64 ]
[ BIOS => SATA Mode - Enhanced ( Because P5K has no Default AHCI Mode.) ]

(q1) Who succeeded in installing 10a432 with SATA Mode - Enhanced or Jmicron - ACHI Mode ?
(q2) Can I get Default AHCI Mode by DSDT.aml ?

Hmmm. I believe there are some modded bioses out that enable the AHCI toggle. You MIGHT be able to do DSDT modding, but, AHCI is more of a BIOS thing.

I am using a ASROCK 945GCM-S and I was getting a KP with my IDE confogurtion set to Enhanced, I changed it to Compatible and now it works fine.

I installed Snow onto a USB external drive, along side a Leopard install on an internal SATA drive.

My configuration is:

250gb SATA2 drive internal
60gb USB IDE drive
PATA IDE DVD +/- R drive
Intel C2D, 2GB ram

So far the system is rock steady and can boot between leopard and Snow with out issue and can access the other drive from each respective installation.

To OG-Phantom
( I hope that a nice guy can release the DSDT with AHCI, but it is likely to be difficult. ^^ )

To elfdood
( Thanks for your information about SATA Mode - compatibe. I will try it. BTW, what kexts did you use ? )

I am using:

Extra/Extensions: dsmos.kext (Netkas), openhaltrestart.kext, SleepEnabler.kext (insanelymac), intelcpupmdisabler.kext and appleintelPIIXATA.kext (Netkas)

System/Library/Extensions: VoodooHDA and VoodooPS2.

and a DSDT.aml I built from my Leopard install using DSDTPatcherGUI.app

If you need I can upload any of the files/kexts you may want to try.

Also make sure you are trying to start with -V -F as I was having issues with Snow Leopard not building the extensions.mkext (i had to make my own with kextutility.app)

hello !

glad to see I'm not alone with my 945GCM-S !!

anyway, switching to 'compatible' mode can't do the trick for me, since I've got 4 SATA HDs and 2 IDE optical drives, which I want all to work.

so I'm trapped with the usual IOATAFamily KP, netkas' PIIXATA or not ...

if I put my 10.5 vanilla IOATA, it works in x86 mode, but I have to forget x64 until it gets solved.

using a patched DSDT.aml too (using 1.20 official bios), for boot hangs without it (in 10.5 too) ...

do you get the internal ethernet controller to work by the way ?

edit: after more researches, it might related to my amount of RAM (4 Go) ; investigating with maxmem flag ...

I am using a modded bios (1.10) from here: http://www.osxcores.site50.net/ that solved my boot hanging. (I do not need a dsdt.AML for Leopard, but it seems I do for Snow Leopard)

Switching to compatible mode gives me both SATA and IDE in both Snow Leopard and Leopard...just switching to that mode avoided a Kernel Panic upon boot up with Snow Leopard.

As for my network controller, I use this kext from Realtek

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...etDown=false#7

I only have 2gb of ram so it might confirm your theory

maybe I've missed something about 'compatible' mode : when I turn it on, two of my four HDs are deactivated ; is it the same on your side ?

still investigating about ram size ...
