the iTunes update and the Java update don't need to be patched... I downloading the packages from the Apple site and installed without needing to modify. works fine for me.

Ok i believe u just wanted to point that out
do u know what would cause ideneb 10.5.5 to not be able to restart? shut down works fine but no restart

did it only happen after you installed something else or has it been like that since the original install. I've seen it caused by many things... but most often the grey screen with the physical reboot warning is caused by kernel panics. when you use the voodoo kernel do you still have this error? if so, then I think it is an extension problem.

If it works up until an installer ran, what did you install?

Nope it has not worked since the very first boot i never had the problem with kalyway or leo or anything for that matter it must just be an ideneb thing i'd like to patch my own disc but cant figure out how to package my own kexts cause i got a sb700 southbridge and i would need it on both the installer and installed system in order for it to work
Thanks for all your help
